Any mechanical engineers?

Whats this?

-Left pedal = Low neutral High

- Center pedal =Reverse

- Right pedal = Brakes

4 sets of points.

And if you had money you had curtains.

You can still find plenty of these. They don't count. I'm assuming Drive-In movies, however, as opposed to drive-in food joints. You can still find those around too, but not many.

How about soda cans with the pop tops that came off?

Ford Model T with planetary transmission.

I remember making those long chains out of pulltabs and hanging them in the doorway, man that was cool:rolleyes:

I also remember using the double ended can/bottle opener, the kind that makes a triangle hole, before pulltabs were around.

Metal wheeled clamp on roller skates, oh yea.

Kick the can was the neighborhood game of choice.

That's right R J C

I can still hear my late 93 year young friend saying" Tim everything works off the transmission. Gears, brakes and fire. "

I was one of two peaple Mr B. would allow to drive him around in his 27 T-model. Talk about PROUD. When I was behind the wheel of that old Ford, Allen Jackson's song would come close to my memories.

I remember most of those and I'm only 38,,,,,,

the ones that particularly stick in my mind are the S&H green stamps... man I used to love collecting those when I was a kid and finally getting enough to go to the S&H store to pick out some camping gear or whatever.....

and I remember blackjack gum, you can still find that around every now and again,,,,,sometimes at Tractor Supply (they carry alot of the old time candies like black jack or beechnut)

I also remember my grandfather uesd to smoke Raleigh cigerettes and a coupon came with each one sorta like S&H and he got all his fishin stuff from the magazine... ...

also remember going to the drive through at the bank as a kid and getting a sucker from the teller,

or the gifts you used to get from cracker jacks that were actually a small toy instead of the stickers they give now... . or secret decoder rings that you used when you watched your favorite afternoon hero show wheterhe it be lone ranger, or batman and robin,

does anyone remember koogle flavored peanut butters? they came in chocolate, and a few other flavors,

or how about Freakies cereal that came with the the toy monsters in each box, my freind must have had a couple hundred of those...

how about when there were only a few different brands of cereal that didn't require a whole grocery isle dedicatd to them?????

man I could go on and on...

Yeah, and there were actually more than three freakin peanuts in the box!!!

Man, I used to love that stuff!

Roy,

You are the only person I know that remembers Koogle,,,,:) , and your right on the cracker jack peanuts thing, I have always said that if Ctacker Jacks ever decided to sell a box of just the peanuts, they would probably make a fortune, cuz thats the best part... .

What about TV shows, one of my very favorite as a kid was the one with Gavin can't remember his last name, but he was a reporter that battled the super natural, man I can't remember the name of the show now that I brought it up, but it came on late on Saturday evenings,,,

we also used to watch Tarzan every Sunday and after church and all the great old horror flicks, my favorite was always the one where they batteled the giant red ants that lived under the city..... or any of the Godzilla movies... .

And what about the American Sportsman with Curt Gowdy, what a great show..... used to love watching that...

oh well, got a 4x4 club meeting, i'll check back in after I get home... . :D

I think all trucks should still have the dimmer switch in the floor!!

My grandmother still has a washing machine that is powered buy a small gasoline engine that says "Harley Davidson" on it.

Night Stalker?

After church we (my father and I) always watched the weekly "Abbot & Costello" movie. My sister hated that!

Scary movies were on Saturday night - "Chiller Theater".

Studebaker: I have had 3 of them

Starter switch on the floor: My 58 Chevy p/u with V8 it was just a momentary dimmer switch-- but the 58 six cylinder the whole starter drive was engaged by a lever the hit the switch.

the 58s also had "gate" ignition switches so that you could pull the keys out with the engine running so that you could unlock gates without turning the engine off.

I also had a Cadillac with a switch on the floor to change stations on the Wonder Bar Radio.

Thanks Shovelhead! I remember the beer and various others requiring the churchkey but don't remember any "canned" pops. Everything in my area was strictly bottles, cans had the pull tabs when they were available. I thought they had just skipped straight to the 'new and improved'.....

Learn somethin' new everyday :D

yep Night Stalker was the one, I used to love that show... . and I liked Abbott and Costello too,,,,

Older

And if you had to pump the lever on the side of the "gas pump" until you got the amount you wanted up in the glass at the top before you dumped it in the thurty fo chevy then you are really older than dirt. bg

My second RAM ( a restored 1950 Dodge 1/2 ton that I have had since 1967) still has the ignition key on the dash, and the dimmer switch and the starter on the floor----it has only two real after market items--a lever to raise and lower the spare tire and an aaahhhhoooogaaa horn. any one remember those?? (BTW, the owners manual proudly bosts that the flat head six engine produces 25 horse power!!!!

I remember a bunch of that stuff (67 years old) but some days it seems that my forgetter works better than my rememberer! :>)

I remember banana peanut butter and I still have a magnet from Freakies. I liked Science Fiction Theatre.

How about Marathon candy bars, chocolate and caramel only, and they were 9 cents?
