Any mechanical engineers?

"Dragnet" rules!!

I also liked "Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom". Especially when the old guy would have Jim doing his dirty work trapping a lion or something.

About candy. We used to eat Chick-o-Sticks. I don't know if they sold them up North, but you can still get them here. I was training a new engineer from Wyoming, and he asked me what they were. I told him it was fried chicken flavored candy. :-laf :-laf :-laf

Ahhhhhhhh,... ... MMMMMMMMM:) Chick-O-Sticks... ... kinda tasted like Zagnut bars. :D

I remember when the local tv station, yes BEFORE cable, used to have the public service announcement EVERY night. .

"It's 10 O-clock..... Do you know where YOUR children are?"

I've heard it suggested that the electric starter was the downfall of the American roadway, it allowed women to drive. Then came the automatic transmission and made it even worse.

:-laf :-laf :-laf Then they started making V8 diesels for women.

I liked going to "Little Black Sambo's" for breakfast.

I have a 42 Dodge business coupe (same age as me) that has the starter above and to the right of the gas. My wife and I were married before dirt was invented.

:) I can remember most of our table wear came in laundry soap boxes, and our glass wear came from gas stations.

Though younger than Mark Martin, older than Jimmie Johnson, I remember seeing at some time all the above and: 1. not only the dimmer on the floor BUT the Chryslers with the radio tuner button down there too!! (it went with the TUBE radio which had mechanical seek/scan!) 2. crank apple pealers 3. shoe stores that had 'xray machines' to look at your feet in shoes!!

KPhillips,

It was Darin McGavin that played the lead in Night Stalker. Wish they would bring that and alot of the other old shows back.

And yes I do remember the whole list and alot more.

You think your old I was there when they signed the contract to rise the rising sun. Yes I got 100% on this one and enjoyed most of 'em.

Happy trails

Marlin Perkins was the old guy on Wild Kingdom.

Those were good days, my Dad got us a TV in 1957 and we able to pick up 2 channels.

How about the Gillette blue blades commercials for boxing? Around 1953, we had the second tv set in Sacramento, 13 inch or so, still have it. It still flips like it did then.

Serial movies at the theaters with Buster Crabb, Lone Ranger, The Sisco Kid. Three candy bars for a dime, 19, 29, 39 cent bags of potatoe chips, three Pepsi Cola bottle caps for the Saturday movies. Air Conditioning (come in, it's cool inside)!

Henry J's, 5 and dime stores, Ding Dong School, Houdy Doody... ... ... Cars with only one tail light/stop light. 100 plus octane (regular), gas wars 15 cents/gallon.

wifey insists I'm only the 2nd generation in my family to walk upright!!! I remember right foot starters and gas wars--chevron custom supreme 104 octane for $. 28. 9/gallon!!!!must be true

Yea my wife calls me a knuckle dragger also.

Premiun Gasoline was known as Ethel, back then and 15 cents a gallon was a great price for a kid with a limited income and a set of wheels. Roy Rogers, Rin Tin Tin, Hopalong Cassidy were my favorites on TV and on Sundy evenings the Walt Disney Show came on.

older than dirt

How about pickup trucks with one brake light ,no turn signals , and a decal on the inside of the glove box that told you to BE PATRIOTIC CONSERVE YOUR TIRES.
