Who's a Pecker?

So the other day I'm typeing something maybe here, and my 13 year old niece walk's in and say's; your a pecker! I said excuse me, what did you just call me?:-laf She goes, your a pecker, so I called her mom in "my sister-in-law", and said, do you know that she just called me a pecker! She started laughing and said, she's referring to how you type! Yeah, I type with my middle finger's. So now I understand what she was referring to and not calling me the other word, I was wondering how many pecker's are out there? I still can't type like your supposed to. I do peck pretty quick though!:-laf All pecker's please post!

Beach, you are an original, I was a Coy. Clerk in an Infantry Battalion, I would have to type a daily detail, and no mistakes (should that reed no messtacks?) plus sometimes Platoon Officers would also ask me to type training sheets. I can tell you I sure messed a lot of paper. I never did try and type in the expert manner, as I had plenty of time, plus have more control with one finger on each hand rather than numerous doubtful others.

Took typing (keyboarding) in high school, too. I was going to fail until I convinced teacher to let me take final my way one time. Tripled my speed and made no mistakes. She passed me with a B.

Seriously, at my mother's urging, I took typing in high school. In 1972, the USAF made me a teletype mechanic. Touch typing came in pretty handy for testing a piece of equipment after I'd repaired it.

i never did learn typing in school, but from posting messages on many different forums for the past 10 years, i can type pretty quickly without looking at the keyboard. . now i couldn't tell you where the keys are other than qwerty, but somehow my fingers find the keys when i am typing

Around 1957 I was given an electric typewriter by a man I worked part-time for, this was not a run of the mill one, but a very expensive professional one owing to his clients, the finished work would look as if printed. At the time my wife was taking a business course and some of her friends would come over, on seeing the typewriter would descended on it like flies around a jam jar in the sun. Their mistakes were atrocious, they claimed the mistakes were caused by the typewriter. The trouble was the average typewriter took much finger effort compared to the electric one, so just brushing the keys would cause the key to strike, and one could honestly swear that they never pressed it.

I also took typing in school, was able to type 35 WPM back then but that was a long time ago. Since I started learning the computer I now type with 2 fingers on each hand. We have computers in the car at work and can type with one hand, but can't touch type anymore.

i just did a few different tests and i am averaging about the same. now i can't spell worth beans, and i don't capitalize or punctuate well so that is my one big downfall...

I heard that you are a "hunt 'n pecker". That could get you in trouble in a Minnesota airport bathroom!

Have to hunt the correct key before using it!

Thank goodness for the check speller, I can't seem to strike the correct key even when looking at it. (do the keys change places at times?) seems like it to me.

I have been told that 10 percent of typist are good and the other 90 percent are hunt an peckers.

I alternate between using 2 to 7 fingers. Depends on how much I've had to drink!
