Hey Stacked and Jacked, I was in LongBeach on the John A Moore FFG-19 From 86 to 89 usually moored out on the "Mole" at Either pier 15 or 16. I remember your ship. They made the Movie "Hunt for red October" out there on the "Mole" and also on the Rueben James FFG ?. After I got out of the Navy in 89, I got a job with So Ca Edison as a Power Plant Operator And worked at the Long Beach Generation station right there on Terminal Island across from the Long Beach Naval Shipyard, "Kinda Under the Gerald Desmend Bridge" . I had also worked over at the El Segundo Generation Station too. LA Was toooo Much for me... .

Was out shooting trap last night; one of my team members is an 'older' gentleman I figured to be around 62/63 yrs old. One of the other fellas wishes him a happy 65th, he says: "Yea, thanks, 15 yrs ago"! Turns out he turns 81 next month. He's more fit then I am.

The point: he credits his longevity and health to learning to take care of himself while a fighter pilot in WWII! Says he needed to keep healthy so he could draw that $220 per month flight pay!

Amazing the people you meet and don't even know it. I'm going to get to know him better -- that kind of history carries some serious wisdom.

DieselRam, I worked with a guy that was on the Mobile and my friend was on the Lockwood over on 16. They moved the Johnny "5" a month after I left down to San Dog. We were filmed in the Flight of the Intruder when we were in the Phillipines too. I also could not handle L. A. , not enough country bars!

Remember the "Silver Bullet" over in Paramount north of Long Beach?, That was the Only Country Bar I knew of there in LA County Besides the "Clint Eastwood made Famous Palomino Club in Pacoima" . There are a lot more down in Orange County.

Down in San Dog I used to go to the "Palomino Bar" in East Chula Vista.

Now in Bakersfield, There are the Crystal Palace (Buck Owens owns it along with half of the town) and one other place called "The Rockin Rodeo" which is a chain outfit from Texas i think...

Then there's "Trouts" in Oildale Ca, Thats the Place to go to get your throat slit!, Lots of Roughnecks in that place.

Doug.

6+ years in the Air Force.

Got a 2 year invite from the Army in 1966 and decided that the Air Force was a better place to be. Twice I was at Keesler AFB for computer schools and had the pleasure of being there when hurricane Camile came through. Spent 3 years in Germany fixing computers.

Thanks to uncle Sam I got into computers at a good time and have been in computers (programming) ever since.
