Why did you choose Bosch 275s rather than after market?

I ditto mikel I went with them because it's a mild upgrade and they were designed to work in this engine (in another application).

Ya - What Mike said. Also I just wanted to improve fuel mileage and towing ability here in the NW mountain ranges without taking a 3rd mortgage since the 2nd was to buy the truck in the first place. Another thing to consider would be if your going to add a box because the bigger injectors need more turbo boost and more fuel otherwise your not going to get the full potential out of them. The 275's alone added a little but with a Practical Solutions Boost Kit - Just enough for my needs of pulling a boat or trailer. Although I didn't see much (if any) mileage increase the drivability was well worth the cost.

Where can I get a set of 275's? I have a PE EZ on the way and they would make a good addition to the PE for better power and driveability. I wonder if that would put my transmission in danger?

Best bang for the Buck, easy on my poor automatic transmission, helped my mpg's, stealth, no electronics involved like a box would have, I don't need a race truck I just wanted a little more towing power.

Now, I have an ETH motor. Will these 275 injectors have the same effect? Will they give me just that little bit extra for towing and economy without having to modify anything else? (that is, not right away).

I like my 275's. My PS boost module and elbow helped keep EGT down. Be for warned that with 275's and a VA I slipped the clutch on my ETH.

I'm not getting a box right away, just the injectors. I shouldn't have clutch problems just with the injectors. Right?

I went with the 275's because I already had a box and just wanted to lower my injection pump pressures some. They smoothed out the motor such that I run at a lower rpm than before (shift about 300 rpm lower) and that's given me approximately 1 mpg better mileage. The engine just seems to breathe easier with the injectors on top of the box. I've now upgraded my box again and am glad to have the injectors to lower my pump pressures.

Just how much added hp do the bosch 275's give you? What about w/ my set-up? Will I be blowing smoke? Does it effect lift pump or enjector pump realiability. Do you have to drill out the banjo fittings on the fuel filter canister? Need to know soon, sale ends 3/9/01, 285$------------------

arar, I liked what RV injectors did for my 98. 5. I didn't have any boost module or vA on the truck since they weren't out yet (this was 14 months ago when this RV injector stuff started). I would guess it added at least 30 maybe 40 HP and made it a lot more fun to drive. Not loads of power but a lot more "spunk. " Smoke output was very very minimal. It did make my idle slightly erratic which was cured when I replaced the injector tubes--my truck had the very early 98. 5 engine which had older style tubes.

I threw a set of RV injectors into the ETH I now have and it responded very nicely. I would guess 40hp easily which is about what people have seen on the ETH. When I tried an old vA with this truck it was a hoot to drive, smoke wasn't bad at all, and EGT maxed at 1050 on a hard run. I did a 9 second 0-60 on my 2wd with the vA, 10 sec without.

I ran a set of 275's and a Diesel Dynamics boost module and elbow on my ETH for about 15,000 miles. Made a very noticable difference in power, also increased my mileage by 2mpg. But I just couldn't leave it well enough alone #ad

I figure with the 275 injectors and the VA and PS that is all the power that I need.

Can't even run the VA until I upgrade the transmission #ad

Where is that money tree ? #ad

Some people don't like the idea of abrasives being forced through the injector nozzles as is done with the extrude-hone process. Although there is much more power to be had from injectors other than the 275's.

The 275's are brand new and standard equipment in the 5. 9ISB when it is used in other applications (motorhomes I believe). The 275's can be used with a stock auto without destroying it whereas only the lowest power versions of the extrude-honed injectors can. (Ex. DD1's)

Good Luck

Are those of you running the 275's using the "matched sets" or not? Are the injectors on Carl's site a matched set?

Thanks,
Dave

I have asked several times as to the meaning of "matched sets" but to no avail. I think the answer lies within the name but I would like to know how they arrive at a matched set. Thanx... ... ... .....

Barry, by no means an expert here. By matched I do believe they take a box of injectors put them on a test stand of some sorts and flow test them and document it. Then they pick out 6 with the same qualities and call them a matched set. Kind of like balancing an engine. Weigh all the piston / rods, then lighten 7 of them to match the lightest one.

Ok gurus jump in here.
