6hp gain from DD2's to BD3's? I'd say you might want to consider some DD3's if you want that 25hp difference above the 2's. :D Still seems a little lite though.

i have your solution with all that money and time you are wasting sell your truck and get an 03 6spd you will be at 500hp easy. then you can go to bed at night with a smile on. i am waiting for the edge comp to arrive and when it does i should be at 400+ hp with that mod only. i dynoed at 296hp stock even with stock air filter. w/ dd1's, comp, and a clutch and hx40 i will be looking at 500 ponies :--) when you buy a new truck put it on the dyno first thing to make sure you did not get another lemon.

i have read several accounts about big cummins 14liter motors and such where one would pull the world and the same motor and same year would not pull at all. sounds like you got a bad one. sell it that is what i did with my 99';) could not be happier

 I thought these new CTD's had 245hp at the flywheel stock? Soooooooooooooo how you're getting 296? and I assume that's RWHP.

Also I doubt it you'll get 500hp just with dd1's, you'll be lucky to get 400, may be I'm wrong.

did i say dd1's i ment 2's. let us do the math. 295. 8stock+80hp dd2's+120comp +???hx40. I am sorry 496hp I dont know how i am getting first run was 290 truck was cold 2nd run 296. other people on this board witnessed me do it like copterdoc, ramminon, pumperdude. I did have a healthy dose of additive in the fuel dont know if that makes a difference. the new 6. 0l ford put down 300. 8hp. a chipped chevy 90hp chip with exhaust put down 338hp. I dont know what to tell you other than i got a good one and these 6 speeds put all the power to the ground;) . these truck will smoke the old 24v's. on the same dyno last year my 99CTD put down 186hp stock. summation these truck will haul butt once broken inn.

Batman, I have bd 3's , hx-40, and a drag comp, I dyno'ed at 406/790@ 29psi. On the street I could pull 32psi.

I knew something was wrong, like a boost leak but all my clamps were straight and tight, just like what you said. It wasn't until I pulled the boots off to inspect them that I found my problem. check your lower left side (driver side) boot mine was cut on the outboard side from rubbing a sharp piece of sheetmetal. couldn't see it or feel it while it was on the truck I changed the boot a week later on the same dyno 440 / 860 it might be worth checking.

FYI, we recently upgraded two 03 trucks (both HO 6spd's) with our exhaust, gauges, airbox, turbo, Stage 2's, TTPM and pusher kits. Both made in the 480's. When the pulse/timing box comes out, it will only get better. :D

Steve,

Thanks for the idea... ... ..... but, I someone pressure tested my complete system for just what you suggested... ... ... . one small leak was detected coming from my boost gauge fitting. Still only 32 psi on the highway.

Update, I pulled the IAT sensor. 65k miles, there was an oily surface on the plastic end. I cleaned it off with carb cleaner, than used some compressed air to make sure all the carb cleaner was off. I checked it before I cleaned it and after with a meter, 10k ohms before 12kohms after..... but IL think my meter may be off.

Test drove after, no changed was noticed... ... ..... anywhere.

I think my next course of action will be to go to a Cummins shop and have them throw a scanner on it. Hopefully they will say I have a soft program in the ECM... ... ... .

Thanks again. I will keep everyone updated as I find more out.

BTW, I hear that lower boot is VERY expensive!

Born to drive a Phord

Yo Dude!:p

You've never had what it takes to make that Big Truck run right! It would probably run better if your wife drove it.

Some people were born to drive Phordes:eek: :D :D

Maybe you could get Fred to ride in it when next you try it out. He alwys brought me luck!:--)

Jim, AZ now... ... ?

I'vre been thinking about you! Can't say what I've been thinking, they would probably delete this post:D Just kidding, hope all is well.

I'll have to go back to the dyno and have my wife run it... ... ..... maybe THAT IS the problemOo.

Be safe,

George

Ah... ..... knowing Batman he's got a lot more than the pump tapped:rolleyes:

JES, how you doing man? I don't think Batman needs the wife to dyno the truck, I'll do it for him.

Where did you get that 98% TC? Dam that thing must rip the asphalt:D

Ok, here's the update... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... .

Just came home from Cummins, where they did a reflash of my ECM... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... and found that my vibration dampener was bad.

Seat-Of-The-Pants-o-meter says that the truck has more sack! This is good... ... ... ... ... and bad.

I now have a very aggravating surge when putting the truck in either reverse, or drive... ... ... ..... I have seen this before on other trucks with much bigger injectors than mine... ... ... . others with same as mine run fine... ... ... ... ... ...

Now something more to fix! How do I get this resolved????

Thanks again.

George

George, I have the same problem but if I didn't then the truck would stall every time I put in in gear. If I run the truck hard and then let it sit for 5 min and restart then the transmission will stall the motor unless I go to at least 3x5.

Fred ask Scotty what he did the last time he rebuilt the transmission it is as close to a cluchless stick as any I have ever driven. It ripps every thing:)

Glad to hear they found something. I think you're going to get that surge with big injectors. I definitely had it with BDII's and not all the time. I think if you wait a couple seconds before placing the trans in gear it's not bad, also playing with the box like JES said may help. Where I found to be aggravating is when you're trying to maneuver the 5er into a parking space and truck is surging and stalling when shifting gears BUT, as always there's a fix for almost everything... ... ... ... ... ... ..... just swap out your trany for a 6spd and I'll guaranty ya it will be sweeeeet going into gear:rolleyes:

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.

I'm going to start a new thread on that subject to hopefully give it more coverage.

Thanks,

George
