I'm proud to say that I steal software from MicroSucks and freely distribute it too. I have been doing it for 20 years. For one reason, none of it is worth buying.

Latest reason, I decided to go and update my (pirated) copy of wondoze. I let the updater decide what 'critical' updates I needed. After 'upgrading', my OE deletes ANY attachments that I get in the mail saying "OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your mail" doesnt ask me if I want them deleted. They are simply removed, all of them. There is no obvious way to disable this insanity that I have found.

This yet another example of how billie gates and microsucks think that we are all dumb idiots and dont need any choices, billie will save us. My only regret is that I actually bought 2 programs from microsucks, both caused continual crashes and are no longer used.

It sure would suck to have paid for this trash.

Sorry for the rant but I had to vent. Free software anyone?

Is there a way to turn this function off or do I have to reload windoze to get back to the older version?

There is a way to disable that! Go to tools (In Outlook Express) and look around there is a box to uncheck that reads "Do not allow attachments that may contain viruses" Once you uncheck that if the email has an attachment that may contain a virus it will put a red flag beside it (you will be able to read the email and attachment) instead of blocking it. If you have any type of Antivirus you wont have to worry about unclicking this feature.

Go to tools and the click options and then click security and it it will be right there in virus protection at the bottom of that area!

Unclick the "Do not allow to be saved or open that could potentially be a virus. "

Did ya know that if you are able to "rip" a copy of Windows XP Home, that it turns into XP Pro when you load it? :) Gotta love that.

I also agree... since Billy doesn't want to share the wealth (I mean, come on, I need a Boeing Business Jet too) than I'll share the wealth of programs I have with as many people as I can.

I'm not a huge fan of Microsoft by any means, however I also don't condone the theft of software. How would you like it if someone stole whatever product or service it is that you or your company produces? You wouldn't have a job for long would you? Microsoft employs a lot of people. If you hate their products so much and they aren't worth buying why are you using them at all? There are other options out there - look into Linux or FreeBSD for example, both are free. JMHO

Warning to others after a Windows update - check your security setting afterwards. An update changed mine and I didn't realize I was missing mail until I happened to go to my deleted items folder and saw them there unopened.

To Steve,

Billie gates bought up every competetor that had a decent OS or program so we wouldnt have a choice, then crams his junk down our throats. I understand what you said and in any other case I would agree but not with microsucks.

He wanted us to be forced to use his monopoly, fine, I'll use it for free then.

Linux is too far behind to be useful, if it became a possible alternative, billie would buy it up and trash can it so we aould be forced to use his junk.

I know about the loop hole in XP, I have several cracked versions but didnt like it at all. It does tooooo much for you with out asking and I figured the name was short for Xtra Problems.

Linux is no longer that far behind:
  • OpenOffice (office suite) is very usable
  • There are at least two very capable SQL servers available for Linux (and likely install by default
  • GIMP is a very usable image editting program (even though it can handle only up to 24-bit color)
  • Scanning is trivial with a lot of the scanners available.
  • Email fetching and displaying is very good
  • Gnucash is a very suitable replacement for Quicken.
    [/lst]

I could go on. And on. But suffice it to say that most of the Linux distributions out-of-the-box are quite usable in place of WinXX, without having an extremely steep learning curve.

There are also many other reasons to use Linux. Very low susceptibility to virii, very capable firewalling built-in, is proficient with many different communication protocols (Win, Mac, Novell, ham radio) and so on.

However, if gaming is your gig, forget Linux. If you need extremely high-end graphics, stick to Mac. If you are quite comfortable with WinXX and don't mind buying a new computer every year or two when you need to upgrade the OS, stick with Win.

I haven't had to use Windows in some months. SuSE 7. 3 has been doing everything I need. But, of late, I have become more at ease with Debian. I may well backup my laptop and put just Linux on it, and reduce Windows to 6GB of disk. I seem to need 20-30 GB of disk just for what I do on Linux.

If you are *truly* fed up with WinXX, dump it and go with Linux or some other flavor of unix.

I'm running a dual boot system with Win98 and Redhat, at home. I'm about to make the leap to Redhat 8 on the laptop that I use for stuff at work, now that we are running three Linux Internet filters and I'm getting more comfortable with Linux.

Having started out with computers, using DOS, learning text commands in Linux is a refreshing experience and reminds me of all the time that I spent in DOS.

The Redhat GUI is a little cheaper appearing, than Windows. Kind of in par with Win3. 1, but there are some very powerfull features in there that make up for it and I'm sure new version will improve on the graphics.

I suggest that you dig up an older hard drive, pop out your current drive, and install Redhat of Mandrake on the older drive. Play with it for a week and see if you're excited enough with it to stick with it.

If you murder, you are a murderer.

If you steal, you are a thief.

It's impossible to rationalize or justify stealing. If you don't like the product enough to buy and use it - how can you justify stealing and using it??

Being proud enough to brag about stealing on a public forum, well it sounds like you are looking for approval of what you are doing. Shamefully, it sounds like you found at least a little.

What the hell are we teaching our children??

Approval? I didnt ask for anyones approval, I was PO'd.

I dont have any other choice than MS (except some possibilities mentioned above) thanks to billie gates.

Brag? Yep, sure am. I'd drive a chevy to help someone beat billie gates at his own game.

What am I teaching my children? To fight back and not just take it up the tail pipe and smile.

You throw some mighty big rocks, hope your glass house is up to snuff.

PS, I never said I wanted to kill him. I hope hell is full of shamelessly greedy people like him.

This is really killin me. You hate billie so much, think his products are sooo bad, yet still use them? Come on man, get a GRIP! I don't quite understand your saying that LINUX is way behind, its pretty much excepted fact that UNIX is a very capable system, why do you think almost all high end servers run on unix. UNIV has been around for 30 years, its grown and changed with the systems and it will be around for a lot longer.

I think you've got a bit of a complex here, you don't like windows because it sucks so bad, yet don't use other software. Could this just be a laziness, because windows is in fact a very simple OS, that really does its job well... when kept simple. You want to move files from a disc to a hard drive, maybe watch a DVD, play a card game... windows is your system man. Hiccup free and ready to run for you. Now people that want power and control use UNIX, unfortunately its not a simple OS and requires extensive time and has a huge learning curve... are you just too lazy to learn LINUX, because it is more powerful then windows when in the hands of an experienced programmer.

Yeah microsoft is wrong, they've ruined the market... . BUT ITS THE MARKETS OWN FAULT. Don't go blaming them for everyone else's mistake on settling for a **** system. They did there job and sold software, raking in billions and billions on people's ignorance and laziness. It pisses me off to hear people ***** about windows... don't buy it then, use something else. UNIX is practically free, open sourced code that has TONS and TONS of support. I wasn't this ****** when i started writing but now i am.

I run a split partition, 1/3 belows to Win XP Pro and the other 2/3 belongs to Suse's LINUX. i use windows still to stay current on microsoft's crap because well, its what everyone else uses so i figured i'd keep current with technology.

A simple shake of the head would have done.

:D Excellent response.

Microsoft has the market, that's a fact. If you buy some new, cool, piece of software, more than likely, you're going to need a windows box to run it. I used to use OS/2 Warp a long time ago and liked it better. It ran MS apps faster than Windows did. It didn't fare too well in the "competition" with MS. My biggest problem is this: How the he!! can you justify charging $300 retail for Windows XP? Windows 98 is still above $100. I know that Gates has a corporation to run, but they already cut corners and are always behind on their deadlines. I just can't see how charging incredible amounts of money, even for OEM versions, is justified, considering that they still have production problems. I figure with the money they're making, just with OEM sales, they oughta be shipping a flawless product, on time.

At least the Un*x and Un*x like operating systems creators are honest enough to admit to the problems of their operating systems, and show commitment to fixing these problems.

Anyway... It's not fair to call people "lazy" for not running and jumping on the Linux or Un*x bandwagon. I'll admit that these operating systems have gotten considerably more user friendly and it takes less knowledge to run them. But, you have to consider that most users have been saddled with MS products from the get go. These people have never used anything else on a computer. Like it or not, the learning curve IS pretty steep to just jump into another operating system. I don't blame anyone for being hesitant to do so.

With that being said, I'm using WinXP on my laptop right now because some of the apps I need to run only come in windows versions. I'm running my own win2k domain using active directory. I'm also running as many services I can on my FreeBSD and Solaris 9 boxes so I don't have to rely on a crappy MS OS that likes to tits up if you look at it funny. A lot of people don't like the truck that comes wrapped around the engine you love, but that's what you have to do to use it.

If you steal, you are a thief

not about microsoft, but about satallite tv. there have been tv ad's up here in canada saying stealing satallite tv is wrong. i can't see how they can say that. they are brodcasting it into my yard. i am not asking them to do that, but if i have the means to tap into that signal, i say it is free game to all who want to "steal" satallite tv. if it is so wrong, why are we not paying for off the air radio? they are brodcasting through our homes, to everyone who has the means to recieve the signal. sorry for the off topic rant. those comecrials make me ill to watch. they are waisting their time. now if canadian satallite companies offered the selection that the US counterparts offer at a competive price, they would have many less people stealing satallite tv.

i wonder how long till people start stealing XM and sirrus sat. radio??
