Thanks for the replies guys, I appreciate it. I messed up with my years I will be looking at '11-'12 Dodges. I do like the Cummins as there more open in engine and easier to work on and lots more torque than the D Max. Stock is boring so no matter what it is it's always funner when it's better.

Take the a small part of the money that you are going to spend on a 11-12 and put it towards a 13+ with the Aisin transmission. You will have a better truck in the long run! Fixing/bullet proofing up a 68RFE is 6-8k just for the transmission! Not that it really matters, but one wonders just how old you are?

Reminds me of the old bull and young bull story.

Young bull wanted to run down the hill and mount a cow. The old bull said lets walk down and mount them all!

Ha,....but what if the old bull can no longer mount a cow?

I agree with Snoking that you definitely should get a 2013-up because of the much better emissions strategy, no egr maintenance, no fuel dilution of engine oil, etc. Then you "might as well" get the 3500 with the Aisin transmission and have too good a trans to match the too good engine. I have been "known" in TDR-land for a long time as a proponent of engine hopups and the manual transmissions. Some people are quite disturbed that I got an automatic 2013 and left the engine stock.

Thanks I didn't know about all the changes between the '12 and '13's. My 7.3 was a manual so never had to worry about trannys. I will look into pricing out a '13. Obviously I would enjoy a good transmission rather than spend money on that compared to motor.

You need to ask yourself how much you are willing to spend. Some of the newer used diesel truck command as much as a new truck less some of the fancier options. I would go on to the Ram build a truck site and see what it would cost to get a new diesel truck with the options that you want. You can than do a search of the Ram dealer inventor in your area or nationwide to see if there is one out there like you want. Some of the 2014 are still for sale and are at a pretty good price less trade.

Because you like manual's, there is the G56, and with it being brand new, and you don't care about warranties, you can convert it the day you take delivery to an SBC SMF/OFEK clutch with the cooling system I delevolped and better oil.

I have a 2011 Ram and very happy with it. I like it better than either my 2005 or 1997. It is not stock, but not wild either. Emission tuners ARE still available for these trucks, don't listen those who tell you otherwise. There is also systems for the 13-15 now, but like everyone else said already, they are good power from the factory and why risk your warrantee?
Head gaskets can be a problem, but not because what some people propagate on the forums. The size and number of head bolts has stayed the same since the VE pumped 160hp engines. There have been some improvements in the headgasket over the years but the architecture has stayed the same. The 12 and 24 valves would have headdasket issues at around 350hp, the CR 5.9 and the 6.7s have problems at 400+hp. Since the engines now start at 350-385hp you can see that any modification to HP can cause headgasket issues. Most all delete programmers will add up to 100hp, add to that hot rodding-drag racing the truck, you can see why so many have headgasket issues after deleting. If I had the chance to spend a little more each month for a brand new truck I would, and it would stay stock, I buy a truck to use as a TRUCK and the stock power is enough. I remember when getting a 12 valve over 300HP was a big deal, now you get 350-385hp from the factory. If I want to go fast I can save A LOT of money and buying a sports car, and still have a truck when I need it.

My son had a 11 DMax drw 4x4 for a couple of years(traded for a 13.5 Ram 3500 with aisin as soon as the came out). He just could not get used to driving a GM......

That being said the Dmax did nothing bad (except trying to drop the front diff off the attachment bolts/bushings).

On a trip to Florida and return 3K miles, we ran same weight 5th wheels (12K) and had same size 90USG aux tanks. At one fill up there was less than $1 diff in fuel used in over 1000miles (would not have believed it if didn't see it)LOL . He was sure his new truck was going to be better on fuel than my sig truck, and I was equally sure mine would be better. As for power, my smjr on tow and otherwise stock truck was about equal as we ran side by side on some PA hills in a dead heat. The Dmax did a lot more reving but the mileage was there.

His new(er) 13.5 has also made the same truck with me. It ran about 1-1.5 mpg less than my sig truck on same above trip but will absolutely WALK away on any road with ease. His unloaded hwy mileage is very near equal to my truck if driven in same manner.

How bulletproof are these Aisan trannys? Do they need to be upgraded once I put EFI live in it? With what theses used ones cost I'm going to go price out a new one the way I want, can't find hardly any bucket seats. I don't care for warrantes cause if it broke it wasn't good enough the first time.

REVMAX has given their comments/opinion on the transmission in this thread on another forum That Other Forum. It's obvious that there's been some very good improvements from the AS68RC to the new AS69RC. The transmission should be up to par for a stock CTD. But once you start boosting the power levels, you will eventually exceed what that transmission is designed to handle stock (I don't know what it's upper limit is unfortunately). Even the mighty Allison 1000 is known to give-up on tuned D-max vehicles.

Is this whole thread for real or someone's wet dream. Guy wants to buy a new 60k+ truck and does not care about warranty. Are we being punked? Finding someone to make the A69RC more than the factory build will be difficult and a quarter of the truck cost if it can even be done. I think someone is funning us. Snoking

Maybe he wants to sled pull with it, lots of guys do.

My son has a '12 mega dually, deleted with programmer since day one. Pulls heavy all the time, on his third set of tires with no problems. He knows if it breaks he has to pay for it.

Friend of mine has a '12 crew cab dually the same way that he hauls his sled puller all over, also no problems and knows he has to fix his own break downs.

I'm not punking anyone, but if I do buy a truck new or not it's not staying stock. DEF, EGR's, DPF's are all harmful to diesels no matter how good there making them, I am going to run this truck for a long time and don't want that crap on there. Just because it's stock doesn't mean it's better look at the 6.0's they were junk stock. Put money in them and they might run not that these are any relation to those. I pull a lot and stocks boring, warentees are getting to strict now any days.
