As Jay Leno is fond of saying, " I'm the President of the More Money Than Brains Club". Some folks are glad to spend big bucks on a vehicle and start right in making it what they want. Fine with me, it just irritates me when the bad mouth the truck afterwards. One of my favorite sayings comes from TDR." When your truck is stock it's idiot proof. When you modify the truck it becomes merely idiot resistant."

I'm not punking anyone, but if I do buy a truck new or not it's not staying stock. DEF, EGR's, DPF's are all harmful to diesels no matter how good there making them, I am going to run this truck for a long time and don't want that crap on there. Just because it's stock doesn't mean it's better look at the 6.0's they were junk stock. Put money in them and they might run not that these are any relation to those. I pull a lot and stocks boring, warentees are getting to strict now any days.

Landon,
As stated above the DEF is not harmful to a diesel engine nor is the DPF; since these are both downstream of the engine. Now with the use of the DEF there will be far-less use of the EGR system on the modern day diesel engine. This is beneficial to the engine in the long run.

Now I would not even consider the Ford's 6.0L powerstroke engine as a comparison of the 6.7L Cummins engine. Even the early ones such as the 07.5 to 2010 are a far better engine than the ford 6.0L engine ever was.

I am deleted on my 08 truck; but I would never ever consider deleting on the newer trucks such as a 2013.5 truck. These trucks are such an improvement over the 3rd gen truck in the design features and use of the DEF system it is night and day difference.

I always wondered if the DPF created enough exhaust back pressure to cause any reduction in power. But I think their current technology is improved enough not to . Probably no more resistance in a DPF than a throttle body or similar assembly on a gasser. Could be wrong about this. Interesting discussion.

Definitely, the DPF allowing for reduced EGR is a huge power advantage
