Several time recently when I have been towing a 10K 5er, when slowing I loose power. With the pedal floored I get black smoke, EGT up to 1500 and no power. Saturday I pulled to the side of the freeway and let the engine idle for several minutes. I then put it in gear and drove off with no problem. I tightened all inner cooler hoses and removed the inlet from the tire well to the turbo air filter. Today 330 miles late no problem.

I have had a inner cooler hose blow off a few years ago and that is what I could ave had this time. EXCEPT the last time the hose had blown off the turbocharger air exhaust. This time all hoses were in place and all I did before I drove off was sit with the engine running in neutral for several minutes.

Any suggestions on what could be wrong and what I should do to fix it?

Update. I will post the codes tomorrow, but the ones I saw do not seem to be related to my turbocharger and inner cooler. It happened again today. I slowed quickly from 60 and at about 40 I lost power black smoke from the exhaust, accelerator floored, truck slowing EGT approqaching 1500 and Boost 0 psi. Stop beside the freeway, wait with engine in Neutral for several minutes, tap the accelerator, observe boost move up from 0, place truck in drive and away we go. What is happening? None of my inner cooler hoses are loose, clamps are tight.

Maybe you exhaust brake stuck in the on position. I had that happen once on my 93. Had you just used the Exhaust Brake??? I had to lube the solenoid valve for the brake.

SNOKING

The codes are P0602, P0743, P0753, and P1765. Some of these are caused by my DTT Smart Box.

Tomorrow my truck will be in the shop to get the transmission serviced and I will ask that they lube the exhaust brake solenoid. I have not checked the inside of the inner cooler for oil contamination. I'll do this if the problem persists.

Any other suggestions will be welcomed.
