After reading TDR issue 58 page 52-54 it made me wonder if Amsoil will stop production of CI-4+ oil and change completely to the newer CJ oil. If so, I need to stock up. How long do oil last if stored in its factory container in a garage? Amsoil dealer chime in please.

I just ordered a few gallons of the Heavy Duty 15-40 CI4 from amsoil, but when I did the search by vehicle and entered in my truck it did not come up, only the CJ4 ame up and the 5-30. So I called them and they said they still have the CI4 15-40 Heavy Duty but that Dodge just changed the spec to

5-30 so they are only showing the 5-30 CJ4 when you do a vehicle search for a CTD, I hope they don't stop making it because my truck only has 31k on the ticker and I plan on having it for a long time.

When DId Dodge change the spec to 5/30??? Is this on the 6. 7 or the 5. 9's??? What would be the reasoning for Dodge making the Switch??

I will try and call Amsoil and get some answers. I would like to know also. I am a dealer, but not a very active one.

I just spoke to AMSOIL and NO, they are not stopping the production of the 15/40 AME. That is the good news. All the tech guy told me as far as why my 2007 5. 9 was only showing the CJ as an option is " Thats what the manufacturer calls for". Which is weird... But I did call.

Here is what I was just told. This is a "copy and paste" from the email I received.

Discontinuing AME is a topic that has not even come up here in corporate discussions. Expect it to be around for many years to come. We are aware that there is false information being passed around on some of the forums concerning AME. Rest assured, these are false and shows you the fact that anyone can post on a forum and claim they know what is true but not have credentials to actually back what they are stating.

The problem actually lies within being able to differentiate whether you have a 5. 9 or a 6. 7 engine, especially in the 2007's because that is a split-engine model year. Since the 6. 7 engine is very specific about the use of the CJ oil, it became the default oil as a primary for that model year, which probably spanned other default settings on their website.

Amsoil will need to ask which engine you have to clarify the separation NOW needed for the CTD's.

Whoever did their programming change did not understand the need to do this 'engine' specific, that is probably all this is about.

The AME 15w40 is one Amsoils most popular oils used, there are a ton of diesels out there using the CI-4 oil, they are not stupid enough to only market to the smaller population of the NEW trucks coming onto the market when there are tons of already existing consumers wanting the CI-4. If the EPA/GOV is what's behind the oil being a CJ vrs a CI and has in effect given all the oil manufactures an ultimateum to only manufacture the CJ, then that would explain why ALL the other companies have made the CJ specific move and are eliminating the CI. I have not found anything that correlates this possibility. I am of the current belief that it may be only Amsoil who continues to meet the needs of the consumers who prefer to continue with the CI-4. While all the other oil companies are in the process or have changed their manufacturing to gear for what they believe to be the future needs of the consumer, it sure looks like Amsoil is also taking the previous consumers needs into consideration and continuing with the CI-4 production.

The real question that should have been posed to Amsoil was with regard to whether they were continuing the AME 15w40 as a CI-4 compliant or will they be changing over to the CJ-4 compliance like the others.

Message to Amsoil reps

I do not wish to hijack this thread, but assume that there are some Amsoil reps watching this thread.

I tried to order some Amsoil product today. I have had an account for the past 2-3 years for oil, grease, and 2 cycle oil purchases. My account has expired. When I entered my email address and password an alert informed me that my account was expired. I knew that, but expected to be directed to the renewal process. When I tried to create a new account, an alert informed me that my email address was already in an Amsoil database. I tried to email the company, but MS Outlook application came up. I do not use Outlook and do not have a registered name and password for it, so I could not contact the company via email. The Amsoil site indicated to call an 800 number. I do not want to call an 800 number, that is why I order product online. I will purchase product elsewhere.

You may find this helpful to avoid frustrating other customers.

Thanks!

Chubbard, it sounds like you just ran into some technical difficulties on your part with your computer. All you have to do is send an E-mail from your other E-mail account that I am sure you use. If their product is not work simply dialing an 800# then I am not sure what to tell you. I have ran into glitches on their site but a 2 minute phone call had my product on the way. .
