The problem actually lies within being able to differentiate whether you have a 5. 9 or a 6. 7 engine, especially in the 2007's because that is a split-engine model year. Since the 6. 7 engine is very specific about the use of the CJ oil, it became the default oil as a primary for that model year, which probably spanned other default settings on their website.
Amsoil will need to ask which engine you have to clarify the separation NOW needed for the CTD's.
Whoever did their programming change did not understand the need to do this 'engine' specific, that is probably all this is about.
The AME 15w40 is one Amsoils most popular oils used, there are a ton of diesels out there using the CI-4 oil, they are not stupid enough to only market to the smaller population of the NEW trucks coming onto the market when there are tons of already existing consumers wanting the CI-4. If the EPA/GOV is what's behind the oil being a CJ vrs a CI and has in effect given all the oil manufactures an ultimateum to only manufacture the CJ, then that would explain why ALL the other companies have made the CJ specific move and are eliminating the CI. I have not found anything that correlates this possibility. I am of the current belief that it may be only Amsoil who continues to meet the needs of the consumers who prefer to continue with the CI-4. While all the other oil companies are in the process or have changed their manufacturing to gear for what they believe to be the future needs of the consumer, it sure looks like Amsoil is also taking the previous consumers needs into consideration and continuing with the CI-4 production.
The real question that should have been posed to Amsoil was with regard to whether they were continuing the AME 15w40 as a CI-4 compliant or will they be changing over to the CJ-4 compliance like the others.
