My wife and I have been considering an M2 for several years. I saw video last week or so comparing a 2020 M2 with 350/1150 and a new GM with their new high horse. They made it to the top of the grade about the same time. What a shame. M2 would be much better long term and drivability. Long term I think all 3/4-1tons brands ratings up to 35k are unsafe with 17" wheels and tires. IMO.

I am not into calling all other brands crazy names but, either both trucks made it to the top in the same time. The M2 had 4.33 gears and the GM had 3.73s. The M2 should have way out run the GM to the top. I think the same results would be with the Ford or RAM. It let me know that if we do settle on an M2 it will be with the higher HP motor.

CUMMINZ,

I too was looking at M2 Sports Chassis. Biggest problem is physical size. GVWR and GCWR pretty close to my 5500, so for cost and capabilities, chose my 5500. AND, while on the road, Vivian and I met owners of Sport Chassis asking how I liked my 5500. We told them fine and told them how we reached our decision. They had TWO major problems: PHYSICAL SIZE doesn't fit or go a lot of places and terrible RIDE QUALITY. And they had ALL air ride (hitch, suspension, and seats). IMHO ride quality suffers riding ALMOST on top of front wheels.

I mention this thought process right here on the TDR when I was actually debating and actually purchasing the new tow rig. I'm still happy with my choice!

Cheers, Ron

Whether necessary or not, I would agree Ram needs to offer the HO package in the 2500.
While I completely agree, it seems kinda pointless due to the fact the 2500 series trucks really can't utilize the extra TQ and power to tow or haul any extra weight over their current ratings. They would have to increase their chassis ratings to do so. Then essentially you're right back to the 3500s. I think adding the HO CTD to the 2500s would only be a factory "hotrod" of sorts or simply a bragging point, nothing else. Nothing wrong with a factory hotrod though. LOL

Hey Ron, did you ever get a price on the M2 sport? Ever find one in stock anywhere?
I still think that’s the best base for a motorhome, instead of a pusher, etc.

There's a dealer in Katy TX. The one I was looking at a 2013 Demo original list $149K in 2018 for $113K. 2400 miles. Was going there to test drive it, then found my 5500. I was comparing specs, cost, and pros/cons. 5500 won.

I am fine with the 1,000lb/ft of torque. I would like to see at least an 8 speed. ZF and Aisin were both working on 8 speeds and ZF has a good video of their 8 speed installed in a RAM for testing. Was disappointed it didnt come out in the 2019 trucks but holding my breath it will come out with the actual 5th Gens.
I dont need that much truck as my toyhauler is 23k max, but I do happen to have a CDL and being over built never hurt anything.

Published figures are one thing, putting them to the road is another.
Remember this from a few years back?

2017 Ford - 440hp/925 lb ft
2017 DMax 445hp/910 lb ft
2017 Ram HO 385hp/900 lb ft

And the actual results.....

Whichever transmission they go with, they need to hire some fresh talent to do the tuning and shift strategy.

You must not have watched the video?

Assume for a moment you are correct, please 'splain how a 1 ton has an advantage over a 3/4 ton on a Dyno.

I thinks he thinks that RAM should have ran a SO 68RFE against the others. According to his Avatar his truck is a dog!

BTW, I did not know that Ford and GM 250/2500 duallies. Watched the video of all three dualies backed onto the rollers.
