Why is diesel so loud?

Saudi Oil/King Fahd

Well, since my 2002 2WD HO 2500 with NV-5600 gets around 23 to 24 empty, I don't think a Tacoma is in my future. Also, since the Tacoma can't go almost 800 miles on a tank of gas, you really can't compare fill-up prices. Also, a V-6 tojo that I used to own got worse MPG with any kind of load than the 318 Dodge gasser I had before my CTD. My 2 cents...

I waited a long time to buy the CTD. I do not need a diesel pickup I just wanted one. I am a drilling engineer and I use it to drive to various locations in the Gulf Coast area. And my company pays mileage ($. 405/mile) when it is used for business. It does not matter what price diesel gets to I will keep the truck and enjoy it!

The CTD stays parked most of the time... . fortunately (in IL) we've experienced a very dry spring/summer so my motorcycle has been out usually 4-5 days a week. 50mpg isn't bad... and I only have to fill that about every 2-3 weeks ($9 or so). That's why I bought a motorcycle... though it didn't make sense financially. Over time, it will but in the mean time, I just enjoy cycling!

I know many of you have to have a diesel and don't have any choice. My question is for those who do not have to have a CTD. Is there a certain price that fuel could reach that would make you sell your CTD?? I know I came from an old Tacoma that took $25 to fill and got 19 mpg mixed. Now the new Tacomas have much more room, power, and get 22 mpg. They are starting to sound pretty sweet as diesel fuel continues its climb. It's starting to look like the time of $90 fill-ups with a truck that gets an honest 14. 5 mpg are on its way. I personally love my CTD, but I want no part of that. What do you guys think. .

No way ... I get better mileage than the gassers. Gotta keep the 5th wheel tow vehicle. Escapes to the Pine trees is important. :cool:

The threshold of pain is going to be when fuel gets much higher ... riding the Goldwing in 100 degree heat. :{

Nope -- I don't need it & I'm not selling. Regarding fuel prices -- I truly wish that OPEC would raise prices to $180 per barrell. The subsequent trauma would really force us to move to alternative energy sources. It's wrong that our way of life is controlled by folks 1/2 way around the world who don't share our values and philosophies. Our government has allowed this happen. If we want to be truly free, we have to be energy independent. I'm moving to Biodiesel!!! My supplier is bringing my 55 gallon drum and pump next week. He'll refill me as needed thereafter. The HECK with OPEC! We have to start somewhere! C'mon guys! Who's with me?

I am wondering when the buying public will get really upset about the current fuel prices. I say this due to the fact that the oil companies are laughing all the way to the bank. Sounds like they have inflated the prices to make more money. I am currently spending between 250 and 400 a month on fuel and it's killing me, but the CTD will stay I will never get rid of it. You also have to understand that we have a president that came from oil and will always support their ways.
Just think he is not informed that it cost more for gas or diesel as he has not put a hose in a fues tank lately he is provided Government transportation . The armored limo gets probably six mpg the helicopter just a few pounds . jet few more pounds. and the bunch that accompanies him ? Ron Bissett in Metro Louisville KY .
