We are finally parked in a place where I can do my own maintenance on the CTD. Oo. I've always had the fuel filter and oil filter changed at the dealer. I understand they use a 10 micron filter. Is this true? I am still running the stock fuel pump and have had no problems with it so far. I am thinking about going to the 7 micron, or possibly the 2 micron filter I have been reading about here.
I am pretty comfortable with the procedure to change the fuel filter (I have done SOME research), but my question is: Will the increased filtration rate put enough of an extra load on the fuel pump that I will start having problems? I don't have a fuel pressure gauge (yet) so have no means of monitoring it as of now. I would like the extra filtration, but cannot justify an aftermarket fuel system just for that reason.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks, Steve
