2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Windshield Replace

My original windshield is trashed and need to get it replaced. I have no idea what to look for - should I ask for Dodge replacement glass or will insurance only cover whatever is cheapest? Does it matter? Thickness, durability, scratch resistance, etc.? Anything to consider with the seal, etc.?

Just had the company work van windshield replaced at Safelite. They did a quality job with out the mess some companies make with the black mess. Glass appears to be good quality and they even cleaned the front floor and dash when they were done. The replacement was 260ish. You can check them online and I believe they give a replacement price. I was very happy with the service and would not hesitate to take my personal truck there when the time comes.

Call around, some companies will use Mopar glass, and some even waive the deductible meaning they eat the cost out of their profit to get your business.

I had to replace mine when the truck was fairly new. My body shop friend set me up with a company that installed an OEM Dodge WS, claiming it would stand up to rock dings etc better. SNOKING

I get mine replaced about every 200k because they look like kaleidoscopes when driving into the sun. I've not noticed any difference in longevity from any source.

Make sure the replacement is US Made! the Chicom/Mexican units some will pedal pitt easily! PPG and Satellite usually are US.

I got mine replaced by Safelite. Concur with Dave's assessment. Very clean and professional installation. I was confused by the choices online and finally called and asked for OEM type replacement and they ordered the right one for me. Would recommend them (Safelite)

Yes! I was in the passenger seat of my friend's 2nd gen and remarked about all the distortion in front of me. He'd gone econo and it showed. My 2nd gens Mexican Mopar glass was distorted. The local AAA approved auto glass place installed a new American made one. Perfect.
