The windshield washer fluid pump quit working on my truck so I replaced it with one off of another truck and it still is not working. The wipers come on when I push the button but not the pump. Any ideas?

Wiring Diagram. Easiest thing is check the ground for the motor

The only voltage source for the motor comes from the pushbutton. The pushbutton receives voltage from the ignition switch which also feeds the wiper system so it appears everything is fine at least to the pushbutton as your wipers operate ok. The washer motor has 2 wires, one recieves power from the pushbutton when the ignition switch is on. The other pump motor wire goes to ground. Do you have a multimeter ?. If yes, unplug the motor, set the meter on ohm's and check the Black wire to ground. You should have a reading if it is ok. According to the 99 schematic Brown will come from the pushbutton and will have 12vdc to ground with the ignition on and pushbutton pressed. You can also ohm across the 2 terminals on the motor, you should have a reading, if not the motor is bad. Clear as mud ?

thanks, i will check that and see what i find out, thanks for making that simpler for me

And if you don't have or are not comfy with a multi-meter you can also use a test light. Unplug the motor and check the terminal in the harness connected to the brown wire while having an assistant hold the wash button with key on. If you get a solid, bright light you then know that power is reaching the pump which would indicate a ground issue. Have the assistant hold and release the wash button under your direction to verify that you are on the right wire.

Let us know what you find and we will help you fix it.

Mike.
