Couple of questions on trailer sway

Decal removal

My "sig rig" down below is equipped with one of these, and it doesn't seem to work very well. :( Just wondering if there's any way to internally troubleshoot it before condemning it and blowing $150+ on a new one. Is there anything that fails inside? Where can I find a schematic? I'd like to try pulling it off the roof and let Wifey the electronic whiz take a look at it.

TIA!

Don

If this is the round antenna then I can tell you they don't work for crap. My other trailer had the one you crank up and then could rotate 360. That one was awesome compared to this round thing that I have now. I kinda don't care as we usually just put up the dish now but it's frustrating to have worse performance in a newer unit.

Those RV antennas don't work very well w/o a booster. Does that one have a booster and is it working???

JMHO, but I don't think you would be 'blowing' 150 or so for the Winegard 'Batwing' w/ booster. It would be worth it instead of having to deal with a troublesome 30 y. o. antenna. I have a Batwing on my camper and it works reasonably well, at least when the booster is on.

Don't you think that very cherry classic MH of yours at least deserves an upgraded TV antenna??? ;)

Well, it does have a booster on it, and the little red idiot light comes on when you hook the coax to it and flip it on inside, but I'm not sure power is going up top.

I had one of those batwings in my last slide-in camper, and it was an EXCELLENT unit. But, it was installed in a location that was pre-drilled for it at the factory. I'm leery about knocking holes in the roof myself. Besides, I fugured that repairing or even replacing it with the newer equivalent would be much easier, as I could just re-use the old brackets and not have to disturb the screws/caulk.

FWIW, a replacement is not quite as expensive as I thought it would be:

Wineguard antenna

I had trouble with my antenna from the day I bought the TT. Oh. . I could take it back for warrenty work. . but my wife and I are full time now. . so you figure in a hotel for a couple days. . plus meals. . it aint worth it.

Anyway, I just went up and pulled the little chip out of the antenna. So now it's a simple dipole (rabbit-ears) antenna and works fine.
