Winter Tires

I know it is hot and the middle of July but was wondering if anyone knows what company is making winter tires for the 03.

I know Michelin is making them but studded they are right at $200 ea. :--) plus rims @75. 00 ea

Are they different sized rims?



I can't use studded tires here in Michigan. I hope to find something a bit better too.

The rims are trade in's from guys that have put on those fancy

tire company rims.



Maybe by this fall one may be able to get some from a junk yard at a better price.



Last fall I purchased Cooper studless approved winter traction tires and they are a very good traction tire. We cannot travel the mountain's with out approved traction tires, or chains when the roads are bad or it is a big fine.



Now I have to try and sell those tires and they are mounted and the rims will fit 94 thru 99 dodge. They have less than 3000 miles on them.



I pick up my 03, 3500 SRW HO, Auto SLT Laramie tomorrow. Atlantic

I have a set of Cooper Discoverer M+S (235/85) on an extra set of factory chrome wheels for my 94. Made a HUGE difference. Oo.



I wish they would fit on the new one. :{

That is where I was quoted the price for tires and rims. Price will not get better till more tire companies start making the size we need for our truck in a 10 ply.



Gee in a few hours I will have to change my signature block from a 95 to an 03.

Found Bridgestone Winter Dueler P265 70 R17, load index 113 = 2535#, speed Q = 100 mph (ok for winter, remove at spring time ).

I just double checked and my stock Michelin's have the M+S rating on the tire.

The M+S rating makes you legal at least out here in Washington State. I was checked twice last winter by the DOT guys guarding White Pass Washington they like the way the new CTD sounded. I did a power take off (broodie) for there entertainment.



They worked just fine but I do agree that studs are the best and even then you should carry chains for when it gets real nasty.

Studs (and chains) turn your tires into skates. That's ok on ice or snow, but real bad on dry but frozen pavement. See my Reader' Rig Gallery, we're serious about ice and snow up here (skating too ).



Nothing replaces a tire that is engineered for snow, please forget the M&S for real winter driving, you're gonna kill yourself.

I too am concerned about "winter" tires for my 03.



I can find no load range E (10 ply) studded tires for the 03.



Has anyone solved this problem?

Ordered 4 Dueller today, with rims and no studs.



I also test drove the stock Michelin M&S with Counteract Balancing Beads in. Liked them very much. Once everything gets installed and paid, I'll be set for the next 4 winters. Dan

The ones quoted from Les Schwab were BFG load range E rated?



Or Michelin LTX/AT?



In addition to the factory tires that come with the truck I am not sure anything is rated an E

I am personally waiting for Toyo to come out with a factory replacement 10 ply E rated tire, in all terrain, might not happen before winter though

Hunter, the rating of the stock load range E Michelin is 3,195 #.



The Dueller are labeled P (for passenger) instead of LT, and rated 2,535#. I very seldom carry heavy stuff during winter time so they will suit my needs, may not suit yours.



I also have a SRW, I don't know if a P tire can be mounted on a dually.



I personally don't like ''all-seasons'' tires because they do a correct job every time, but never an exceptional job. And I hate being stuck or have to be towed during winter, I'm too proud for that . Pride has a price, and mine is slightly under $1k USD for the 4 tires, rims and installation.



And I always carry my Sorrel boots, just in case (Cannuck's inside joke).

does anyone know how the nitto terra grapplers do in the winter? I know they are all terrain but im looking for something that will still do ok in the winter time without having to swap tires between seasons.
