Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting Long wait for guns too

Guns, Bows, Shooting Sports, and Hunting Primers?

Where I live, we are plagued with lots of gophers... thousands and thousands of them... they are just like prairie dogs but about 1/3 size. They are active from Mid March to early August! Then... in the winter the Coyotes take over and form packs like wolves, working together to take deer. One morning, my son looked out the window pretty early and saw a coyote taking off from the edge of the yard with a turkey carcass I'd shot, breasted out the day before. He ran into the living room and said get a rifle and come quick. By the time I got there on the back deck... he then told me... No Way yer going to hit him as far out as he is now !!! I said Wanna Bet? Once a Marine Corps Rifleman, Always a Marine Corps Rifleman... he again said no way and ran for the rangefinder. He came back with it and checked the range and said no way again... I told him give me the range... he said 500. . I said. . here goes, benched the rifle off the deck railing, achieved stock weld, let the air out and touched it off... you can see the results below... Note: the 'yote was loping away at an angle the whole time gaining distance.

'Nice shot"-----dads place up in northern Alberta Canada he drops every coyote he sees if he can get to the rifle quick enough,no shortage of moose/deer/elk etc on his quarter section. -----Best shot i ever did was drop a antelope on the run with a 67 year old . 303 British(180gr),walked it out at 500+ yards. Dad was standing right beside me as i fired and it fell, though the shoulder/lodged in the neck. This was my first rifle 30 years ago and still hunt with it every year. Dads ex US military and taught me how to shoot... ... DW

Yotes are my favorite winter past time. Oo. Just another month to start once deer season ends.

My next door neighbor and his brother are several time national calling champs in the Rawlings Wyo national calling contest.
