Wiper motor noise

Had to turn my windshield wipers on last night and they have started making a noise when they start and on the return trip, not threw the whole cycle. Is this the first sign of the motor going bad. With all the rain need to figure out what it is before they stop all together. Any an all help appreciated. Truck has been great but things do wear out.

What kind of noise? Whining?

If it's whining the first thing I'd do is open the cowl and lubricate the hinges.
