Anyone seen the Olympic Train?

The TicTac Neck Crack

How many of your wives/so's read handgun magazines and buy themselves new guns for x-mas?

Starting to think I've left her alone too much. :)

Lurch

Lurch, I wish I had that problem ( Hmmm, maybe not :D ). In my past life, before I found the TDR and bought 'Smokey', firearms were my hobby. Actually, I ate, slept and dreamed of them. My wife's interest was a passing one at best.

One things for sure, she could have a heck of alot worse interest. Encourage her to join a shooting club and try to stay on her good side, if you know what I mean ;) .

My wife isnt "into it" per say, but whenever I get her to go to the range with me (once a year or so) she shoots head shots with 100% accuracy!!

Baffles the hell out of me and everyone else there!!

Eric

PS She scares me!!:D Because this is TRUE!!

This is with the pistols. The rifles are "too loud" for her.

The patriot

she shoots head shots with 100% accuracy!!

This is to tell you that should you become a jerk she has skills to ensure that your days are numbered

I'm already a jerk!:D I have to become MORE of a jerk. :D:p

What's really saving me is, she dont know how to open the safe. :p

I shot expert with the 45 in the Marine Corp. When I take my wife to the range she alway puts her rounds inside mine. Her dad is a retired "Full Bird" USMC and made sure his kids could handle a weapon. Now if I could only get her to clean them. Wish I lived in a state that had carry permits  . When I lived in Georgia the wife alway carried a model 60 stainless with a shaved hammer and tubed trigger (my old backup gun). Felt safer when she was out of the house without me. The carry law did not pass here in Missouri the last time around because of all of the big city commies in St. Louis and KC. Maybe next time. I was a reserve Police officer when I lived in KC 20 years ago gave me the right to pac all of the time. What are the carry laws where you live? I am hoping with all of this terrorist sh*t that they will start changing these laws so we can protect ourselves. Sorry for the long post but it pisses me off that the criminals have guns and the good citzens are forced to break the law if they want to protect themselves. Which I will not do, guess I am just made that way :)

My brother-in-law put in 25 years with LAPD. He always insisted that my sister carry a pistol in her purse (illegally). He said that the force all believed "It's better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6".

Eric, If you see the "Sally Struthers" at-home locksmithing course in your mailbox in the wife's name it might be time to invest in some body armor. :D ;)

My wifey's Hispanic..... I lock up the knives.

Lurch, what did she get for christmas??? I think it is cool that she is into guns, I am a fiend for guns myself.

I was a small arms instructor and shot competitively in the service, so the wife naturally learned how to shoot. When we met she was anti-guns, it is funny how a little time all alone 1000 miles from anyone you know can change one's opinion of self protection in a hurry :D My wife can stack the holes with her 45 too, out to 15 yards they all stay center of mass. She usually shoots closer, like a hallway distance and she cuts a ragged hole

Big Toy, great point about criminals having guns while I am forced to become a criminal to afford myself the protection that no one else can provide. That is usually my opening statement when gun rights are being argued with the unenlightened  That really burns me. The communist country of Wisconsin will only get worse too, there is no hope of a right to carry law here.

Big toy, maybe it has something to do with USMC in her blood. Her Grandfather was a "full bird Colnel". :D

Wish we had a CCW here. I'd feel a lot better when she's at the mall while I'm at work at night. We had a CCW bill that was a pretty close vote here, now we have a Democrat Governor, so it's a dead issue... .

Ramboy, that's some good philosophy IMO.

Shovelhead, LMAO at the Lorena Bobbit/locksmith comments. :D:p

Bigtoy, isnt it funny that our lawmakers didnt want to give pilots the right to carry, and a "fighting chance", however they would "splash" a jet full of passengers if it was hijacked? To me this is convoluted thinking.

I gotta tell ya, my wife is real understanding when it comes to buying guns too.

Just the other day we were at the sporting goods store, and I saw a Remington 700 (adl) in 30-06 for $265. 00!! It wasnt 100% cond, but something you wouldnt mind going out in the woods with.

Also saw a swiss pistol (CZ copy) that was pretty nice too, on clearance for $399. It was brand new.

I honestly believe she was going to let me buy both!! She was up there asking questions on both giving me the "well... go for it" look.

This is less tha a few weeks from her getting me 2 pistols for my B-day, and Christmas.

However... . she's not quite as understanding with bombing parts. I think she believes that I'd be more of a public safety concern with a bombed 12 valve!!:p:D

Gotta love it!!

Eric

My wife will shoot at the range if I ask her. I don't go deer hunting so she is happy about that. She has a soft spot for "bambi". She does like to crawl around with me when I sneak up on ground hogs though. In fact, when I get focused on a hole waiting for a hog to pop up, she spots for others for me.

She bought herself a Taurus PT 111. My . 45 is a little big for her. Apllied for CCW too. Took her out to the range last Fri. (too cold for outdoor stuff). She had a blast, tight groups, center of mass, capable with head shots. Gotta love her. :)

My wife hasn't ever bought her own guns but she has her own guns both rifles(before we where married) and handguns(after), She also has her Concealed Carry permit. She carries either her Kaur compact 9mm or here 5 shot S&W 38 Special. She also owns her own 1911 45 ACP which she shoots 3 or 4 time a year in IPSC compitition with me. I load her ammo for comp and she case gauges it. She was the intermountain bowling pin ladies champion a couple of years ago using my 44 mag redhawk shooting it double action using not quite full loads but still hot= 210g JHP @ 1100 fps.

She will shot everything I own including some of my hand cannons(454 Super redhawk, 308 Lone eagle, ect)

I don't worry at all about her taking care of herself and would want to cross her:eek:

My wife likes shooting the 22 pistol, and she used to carry a 380 PPK years ago. I just lost a dinner bet to a girl last week. I went out to the range with this girl so she could get some practice in with her 380 sicnce we signed up for a consealed handgun course later this month. I brought my M-25 to the range to sight it insince I just did some modifications to the scope mount and stock. After getting it pretty close to zero at 100 yards, I let her shoot the M-25. In her first 5 round group, she got one bullseye at 100 yards, and I told her if she did it again, I would buy dinner. The next 5 shot group had 4 shots touching a 1 inch box with one bullseye at 100 yards. Needless to say, we had Mexican food for dinner, and I paid for it.

Moral of this story???

Dont bet on the accuracy of someone shooting a $4000 rifle using your own reloads after you sighted in the weapon. In the case of my M-25, its gonna shoot good regardless who is behind the trigger :)

My fiancee' has her eye on a compact Glock . 40, and did pick out a nice stainless Win 70 30-06. She will shoot with me sometimes, and pegged a deer or two with a bow before I met her. A scoped rifle is "cheating".

As for bombing, just got the #11 and AFC spring kit in the mail, and she asked how much she owed for half!:D

Dee, I got the Super Red in 480 a few months ago, maybe we can get together.

guns

BIG TOY,

I never did have a warn feeling for the state of Vermont, but they have no laws against carrying a gun. The state believes it is every citizes right to carry a weapon and no permit is required.

Man you gotta luv that. :D :D

Zeeew

If you can see a 12 inch target at 1000 yards without a scope, then you you must have some incredible eyesight. :D Personally, I cant see that without a 24X scope. I dont think this is cheating. I have never shot at something as large as a deer, so I cant comment on what it is like to hit something that big without a scope. FWIW, I dont think I would need a scope either when deer hunting.

The women around me

I guess it started with mom - back in '57 - she received a 12 guage from dad for her first anniversary present. (Next year she received fishing tackle). Dad was west pointer ('47) career air force, full bird colonel fighter/test pilot - expert from small handguns to aerial combat, except for one of the machine gun tests. He entered marriage with the thought that a wife was meant to cook and polish fishing lures during spare time - that lasted about five years. Unfortunately dad drives a ford pu. Have no brothers, but two sisters.

Little sister was deemed as "DAD'S project" for the year before she returns for the family outing to deer camp next year in Michigan. She may be the only Yupper who can't shoot. She decided two years ago that she wanted to start to hunt - but unfortuntely, the feet back, hips forward, shoulders back position that she employs for shooting doesn't work too well. Dad's got a year to fix it.

Big sister, OTOH, is a very good shot and is loaded for bear - literally. Very good shot (~85%) with her 7mm upwards of 1000 yards from all 4 positions. 95%+ with her 20 guage shooting skeet. Deadly at 100 yards with her 22 going after groundhogs. Has a horse farm so groundhogs are considered a dangerous nuisance - so it's always open season for them. Goes deer hunting several times a week either at her place or mine. Also drives a CTD

My Girlfriend - 80%, but getting better at skeet - with a Mossberg 835 12 guage, For the deer, she prefers buckshot til she's more sure of herself. Drives a 1500, but as with shooting and hunting, she's learning

My best female friend - tall leggy blonde - someone you'd expect to see in Playboy, not wielding a 12 guage. All I can say here is don't let her looks fool you. She'll clean your clock at the range. Also drives a CTD

All of them except for my little sister ride horses; specifically dressage, a discipline which requires incredible balance and extremely light sensitive hands. Christina, my sister, often brings her students (95%female) over to my farm to shoot skeet, and I am utterly amazed at their skillset the first time out. Usually 80%+ at the end of an hour or so after never having held a gun in their life.

As for buying guns in NJ - it's the biggest pain in the rear. Expect to wait at least one month before buying -fingerprinting, local background checks, references from two people that you know, etc. etc. etc on top of the federal system. Most people I know around here, end up buying them elsewhere.

As for Concealed Carry - forget it. Regular carry - forget it.

35 deer and still counting at my farm and our season is only about half over (every day 'cept sundays til mid february)

Andrew

BTW, any Michiganders out there know if "Escanaba in da moonlight" is on vhs or dvd yet or planned?
