I see you got a ride. I was going to offer a ride. On Friday I am going to Houston then to Baton Rouge. I just picked up the same truck you have on friday, But mine is a six speed. I am now going to check my servo moter.

I used to do PDI at a chevy dealer out of high school. Our job was to drive the new cars 12 miles find problems and fix. We we told to test and check it all. If a new owener found what you found we got a call. That switch was not moved at the dealer I bet.

My new truck had 5 miles on it. There PDI was a car wash I bet. If you want to talk about a POS I had a 95 Chevy with a Sick. 5. Two sets of heads 4 pumps 1 engin and a trade on a 97 Dodge. Problems on 97 Dodge. 120,000miles ALT, 140,000 mile lift pump. I am keeping it and bought a 2nd Dodge.

Thanks for the thought John!!!! The interesting thing is I used the washer fluid on my trip back from St. Louis so I know it worked at one time... . or it's good for one time. I also used my 4wheel drive one time..... then it broke... ... ... .

Jason

so it did work once, ok then what I was going to say does not matter. I had run my tank empty on my wipers once and it took some time to get the fluid back up to the nozzles after, jus thought maybe you might have had air in the system. By chance can you hear the pump running when you push the wiper handle in?

MCrossley:

I can't hear the pump running when I push the wiper handle. I've looked at the fuse block but can't figure out which fuse is for the washer motor... ... ... any help would be greatly appreciated... going to the dealer is such a PITA!!!!

Thanks,

Jason

MCrossley:

I'll check it tonight when I get home..... thanks for helping out :) :) I'll let you know in the morning if the fuse is burnt or not... . Thanks again!!!

Jason

YIKES!

I leave for ONE little ol' week to get some R&R in the atlantic ocean and look what happens...

Really though, I am glad at least that there was a know fix for the problem, Although it did not help at the time. At least it was not a problem like the DW, that know one seems to know why and how to fix.

Like someone mentioned before, all dodges have 1. 5 defects per a truck. You just found the "1" - now you need to get the extra ". 5" and you'll be good to go ;) --- Heck, I know of an 06 that aty 500 miles needs a new block because of a casting flaw... . I guess it could be worse

I wish you well

Dont know where in Houston you are, but I can recommend Helfman Dodge service department at Silber and I-10. They have always been straight with me and diagnosed and corrected every issue so far. Seem to be customer friendly compared to others. $26. 95 Cummins oil/lube while you wait also a pretty good deal.

jdaigle, it's too bad that you're having some issues with your brand new truck, especially after spending lots of time researching and deciding that the Dodge as the way to go. Sounds like perhaps you got a lemon. Just keep all your service records in case you need to do the lemon law thing. I just hope that you don't pigeonhole all DC vehicles because of this one problem truck.

I'm beginning to wonder if something is going on with the '06s. My brother's new MC has had the check engine light come on several times (thanks to people here, we've come to the conclusion that it's not necessarily an issue, just annoying and neither my '04. 5 nor his '03 do/did it) and his power steering box is leaking (dealer has one on order to replace it). Are they rushing these trucks, particularly the MC, to get them out the door and to the dealers?

A lemon because he has two problems (one a very small one)? I'd hardly consider his truck a lemon at this point - let's not jump the gun.

JVolpe:

I'm located in the Briar Forest/Dairy Ashford area... . I'll give Helfman a call... . Thanks for the advice :) :) :)

Huskerman:

Still no resolution on the washer fluid issue. I don't hear the pump activating when I press the wiper handle and I don't see any brunt fuses in the fuse block. I guess I'm going to have to bring it in... . it's just such a PITA fighting traffic in Houston to get to the dealer. I'm probably going to wait until I have a more pressing issue before I bring it in. If you have any suggestions I'm all ears :) :) :)

Jason

Sorry for the delayed response, Jason I will be talking with my tech buddy tomrow about it for you and see if he has any idea what it could be... . I will let you know ASAP

electronic = fail. I'm a firm believer in floor shifters.

As far as these things running forever, they may, but it's going to cost you. I've spent over $15,000 on this truck this year (rebuilt t-56, clutch, NEW t-56 because dealer rebuild failed at 16k, new exhaust manifold because the factory piece cracked, new turbo - cracked also, injector failure - replaced all 6, cased new turbo - had to have rebuilt, new transfer pump, 7 new tires, airbags, HD class V hitch, and a quad box. ) The upgrades were because of factory pieces failing. I feel like I am slowly building a tank. Oh yeah, and my clutch that was replaced with the transmission is on the way out. But, I do have almost 200k on this truck, pulling 30k+ with regularity. I really do love this truck and when I think about trading it in, I can't bring myself to do it.

Hey

been there/done that

in the middle of BFE (Eastern Oregon on a Saturday morning)

truck less than 2 months old

Learned about lift pumps that day - and the TDR the next :D

Sold the truck to my co-worker, and I still get to wrench on it every now-n-then..... but by choice, not necessity.

Those pictures make me feel better in a sick kind of way..... knowing it's not only me :) :) :) I really appreciate the overwhelming responses from everyone and the continued help in trying to resolve some of my remaining issues (MCrossley) :) :)

Thanks again and have a Very Merry Christmas!!!

I wass fit-to-be-tied when my truck wouldn't start after running just fine (stopped to recycle some coffee there)

I ended up getting that ride back to Burns, OR where the manager of the dealership held over his mechanics until I got there (Saturday - they were supposed to go home at noon - I got there right at noon).

Turned out the diesel mechanic they have was off that day... ... ... BUT, he came in to take a look at my truck, and immediatly figured out it was the lift pump - replaced it in about 30 minutes.

The dealership had a place for my trailer (at the managers house) to stay, and had a new van being readied to loan me so I could get home - and come back another day.

Mind ya..... I live 350 miles away from here!

When I got home... ... I went to the local smoked fish and gift box business (Sea Bear) and sent that dealership - particularly the mechanics side of the house - a $60 gift basket.

But, at the time that I took the pictures... ... . I was ready to paint a big yellow lemon on the side of that truck and park it at the dealership I bought it at!!!
