It is not pretty, but I think I got a fair deal on it... . (doesn't really matter as I've been looking for one so long that I would have paid a bunch more than I did)

Body is fair, floor is rough and original bed is long gone.

I did'nt know folks hunted for those things. There are 3 of them for sale here in our area. 1 is a 1962 Dodge Power Wagon M-37B all original. Says it does everything it is suppose to do. $2700. Phone 817 283 1816... ... . looks nice in the picture.

If I had the mad money (thank you Greenspan), I'd look for a small diesel. However I'll try to save this drivetrain.

Going for the Dodge Ram (modern) bright red. You know... 'different'... #ad
With a top speed of like 45mph, HVAC will not have to worry about it catching up to him on the drag strips... #ad


I suspect a final paint job is a very long way off. I'll toss some primer on it to slow the rust, but this is it for the time being. I have located a guy who makes cab floors for a reasonable amount. As to the bed, low priority for now.....

It is funny, you can't find them in our part of new england. There are a bunch around, but they are all 'on permanent loan' from the US government to almost every town's fire warden. Forget about trying to buy, simply not allowed.

I did not pay anything like what you would pay for a running beast. I figure with the demand that I know of, if need be I can probably dump this and not loose any money.

Question is, does this go before the project sailboat or after. #ad

Two things;
First, there is an outfit in Mass. that specializes in restoration parts for old Mopar stuff

(this info is a little old, as I last ordered from them in 1986 when I was doing the third restore on my 1950 Dodge (one after each kid drove the truck for a year or so. ) At that time they had a catalog.
Second, there is a book Titled, simply, "TRUCK", its about a guy who bought an old pick up-- just to haul stuff to the dump (exactly what I did) and then ended up restoring it; kind of a blow by blow account of how the restoration sneaked up on him. Its a fun read-if you can find it. All I remember about it is the title, as I borrowed and read it at least 15 years ago.

Have fun, but beware; My old truck ended up a part of the family. I mentioned to one of my boys a few years ago, that I was considering selling it, and he said if I did, He would not speak to me for a year. Trouble is all three adult kids drove it to college for a year or so, each of them thinks he or she most identifies with the truck and should have it. I am in trouble no matter what I do with it, so it just sits in the garage, with only 1500 miles since the last restoration in 1986.

Rebuilding one of those real "Power Wagons" would be a kick.

I really did enjoy "doing" my 1950 (actually according to Don Bunn the Dodge truck history guy, its a '49 left over updated and sold as a 1950). Its so different rebuilding one when you are not in that "Oh my god its broke, and I have to get it back on the road" frame of mind when something goes wrong with our daily driver.
