The fuel mileage gauge was now reading 22mpg. So I have kept driving and the fuel mileage runs around 21-22mpg.

You generally can't rely on the OH computer for mpg readings after putting a box on. Hand calc the mileage and see what the gains are (disclaimer - maybe I am incorrectly assuming what a "fuel mileage gauge" is).

I'm guessing Brett is aware of this.

I was reading his post trying to figure out if he was ribbing Hohn or was being serious. I think he is smarter than that.

If I can buy an HPCR and install a box that will give me an honest 7 MPG's over stock I will be out shopping tomorrow. It just can't be true :(

Havn't had the crazy gauge problem yet and can't tell about milage inprovment but smoke seems thinner/less often and motor seems smother. Good product for the price! Thanks Hohn

On a side note,

Right now I have my wasgate port pluged with a 1/8" plug and the hose dangled. boost seems to come smoother and it takes the surge out of the catcher. The boost holds high now insted of peaking and coming back down as the air bleeds through the elbow I had on the compressor and eventually opens the W/G. My question is how much boost can I hold in stock form without causing head gasket probs? Im seeing up to 35-36 on hills at the right times. I like this setup as boost holds around 30 with steady acceleration and it takes the jerkyness out of the catcher, BUT I am not prepared to do a head gasket yet and don't want to have a blowout! Sorry bout the hijack Justin.

I have not heard of this product before, but with the comments on solvent/cleaning action and the improved performance it sounds similar to the good results some of us have experienced with Marvel Mystery Oil.

Looking at the ratios you guys are using, it makes me wonder if the FP60 product could be an acetone blend. Lots of people have been touting small quantities of acetone mixed in gasoline as a mileage booster, at a 1:640 ratio it is reported to boost mpg by 10-20%. Many reports from users back up the claims, and interestingly enough it is said to work with diesel as well.

I have seen many more tank unit failures on trucks that use a fuel additive regularly than those that don't. My tank unit on the 94 just failed recently,I do not use any additves on a regular basis. I have also replaced over 150 vp-44's. So I guess if you drive a vp pumped truck it may be worth throwing additives in your tank, but I would prefer to use one recommended by some one who sees the inside of a pump and of course to know the chemicals being used.

Checking fuel mileage odd ball way?

This fellow I know will buy 10 gal and the tank still not full will run that low then maybe buy 5 gal and check his mileage that way. I tell him he nuts, just plain nuts checking the fuel mileage that way. His answer Is always have and It works. I tell him I don't want to hear It. Some days he amazes me and then some days I wonder about him. The only way to check fuel mile mileage Is to complety fill up each time and YOU do It then write down the mileage and divide gallons Into mileage. Its Not hard for some?

OK, so what is the recomended additive, and or chemicals?

I'd suspect these failures are due to overdosing. I don't think that any additive in small quantities should harm the sending unit.

If it does, these senders really are pieces of crap.

UPDATE: Current tank is over 360 miles-- ALL IN TOWN DRIVING. Hasn't even hit the half-tank mark yet.

It used to hit 1/2 tank ~ 260 miles in town, ~300 miles pure hwy.

Evidence seems to indicate ongoing MPG enhancement. I'll know more when I fill next.

Figured I would buy a gallon and do my own mileage test, lving for Az end of month should be a good freeway test. I think I will run my first 300 freeway miles without it and then at the next fill up start using it.

Tell me do you place the additive in before filling up estimating how many gallons you are going to use and then while after topping of add enough to your tank to equal your 1 oz to 5 gallon first time should be easy its a 35 gallon tank with the 8' bed right

code to get the measureing container for free with an order of less than two gallons code is 7THGENCIVIC05

If anyone asks where you got the code just say ya forgot where

Well, I'm on my second tank with the FP60 and both times the fuel gauge is acting up. I didn't overdose. I used 1oz per 5 gallons, just like the directions read. I can only attribute the wacky readings to the newly introduced fuel additive. I've put 20k miles on my truck with no fuel gauge problems until the FP60. Just a coincidence? I don't think so. Now, I don't pay any attention to my gauge, I just go by the trip meter. That's a small price to pay for a smoother running truck, though. Oh yeah, no increase in MPG's here.

My truck gets a pretty consitant 18mpg (~16. 5mpg GPS corrected 15% for tire size).

Switched to B100, first full tank dropped to 17. 8

Interestingly enough, the OH computer promises 22. 1

Quick update: I filled up. 387 miles, needle still pointing over half tank.

17. 8mpg-- ALL IN TOWN.

Hohn, Are you saying AFTER fill up your needle is still pointing to over half tank. Which indicates your fuel gauge is malfunctioning

OR after driving and have driven 387 miles on this tank and NOW the needle is still pointing to over half tank.

Bill

No, hehe. Sorry for the confusion. Needle read just above half tank @ 387 miles, then I filled up. Apologies for poor wording.

Hohn, I don't understand your readings. I believe my fuel gauge is pretty accurate, well, at least before the FP60. The needle reading and odometer mileage readings were consistent every time before the additive. If I was reading 387 miles, my needle would be somewhere around 3/8 of a tank. Also, I have never gotten any less than 19 mpg. That's my minimum! That is hand calculated. Why are our readings so different? I have a ton of miles on my truck compared to your 40-50k but I feel my gauge is a little more accurate. What do you think? Oh yeah, if my gauge read 387 at just over half tank, I would be in the 28 mpg range. Yeah baby!

Do you have any hand calculated results yet

This is my current tank with 278. 8 miles on it.

This is mostly CITY driving. I had about 100 miles of 75mph on there, too.

Shortbed= slightly smaller tank.

For reference, I'm usually at the HALF tank mark at this mileage.

Tire pressure is 55F 50R, oem rubber (265 Michelin).

You may not find this impressive, but this is thus far the best mileage tank in mixed driving I have EVER had. It's actually on pace to surpass most of my HWY mileage numbers!!!

The difference? LUBE CONTROL AND FUEL POWER!

Hohn, It been almost a month since you first posted your first post on this subject, since then have you hand calulated what your real mpg are.

Thanks Bill

Yes-- see my posts earlier. I have no overhead on my truck, so hand calc is all you'll ever see from me.

Last tank of 17. 8 all city (stop and go, almost every start is a cold start, every trip <5 miles) was impressive to me. I usually got about 16 before.

I'll keep updating this thread with followups as I get more tankfuls w/ FP60 burned through.
