SpinnerII oil filtration anyone?

After reading the many post on this fuel additive, I have come to the conclusion that this product will lighten your wallet and cause your fuel gauge to become less accurate. :-laf

It will, in fact, do both.

I think it's good for the engine-- the engine seems very happy and smooooooth when using it.

Worth the money and gauge inaccuracy? Only you can decide!

I had the same thing happen to me on my old 2001 Truck, at half a tank I seemed to be getting great mileage as the needle was bareley moving. I ran out of fuel and found out my sender was stuck. :) Boy did I feel like a dummy. I was on the way to fill up for a trip too!

I've been following this thread and it's been real interesting.

And I don't intend to step on any toes here, but do want to interject a thought from my own experiences and a phenomena I've read about as well.

(so I'll throw the rock in the water and see what ripples we get)

I've gotten anywhere from 11 - 22mpg with my 99.

No boxes or engine mods.

11mpg, hot foot, towing, hills on and off road.

I Avg 13mpg around town, avg NY LI aggressive zoom zoom driving - always in a rush. If I'm real nice and ez up, I can get 15mpg, driving with an egg under my foot, all around town, lots of traffic and red lights.

When I want to play with the little zip-zap coffee can exhaust cars in the area, that goes down to 12. Keep the heavy foot and tow and it goes to 11mpg.

But with towing around town, being nice I can see 14mpg.

I just took a ride up to Albany, loaded with stuff for work. I tried hard to be nice to the fuel budget and got 18. 5mpg over all / total, for the trip. Mostly highway, a few hours of 85mph - 90mph to make appointments. About 6 hours of town driving, 30mph - 45mph. But the drive up and drive back, I took it easy. . 55 or 65 mph, a WOT now and then to get out of a crowd or avoid merging traffic. 380miles up , 380miles down. . I did a total of just over 1k miles on the three days.

This trip I had on very aggressive 33x12 E rated 10ply AT/MT tires.

I know if I had on the stock OEM Mich's, a very highway friendly tire, I could have seen at least a 1mpg increase in efficiency.

The Trip mileage OD readings were corrected for the increase in tire diameter.

One trip out east, no load, no towing, took it real easy. . drove on the beach for 1 mile and then back home, real easy. . 55mph max, ~ 140miles round trip, got 22mpg.

(admittedly that's a tough one to stand by. . one fill up, I did it, but there's room for error there, this was with the OEM Mich's tires)

So. . one study I read about fuel saving devices, and people experiencing actual results, observed that when folks used such devices or additives, they drove easier and with more attention to better habits, (subconsciously in hoping to see the full effect. ) The only real major effects in the study (at that time and with those devices/additives) was the change in driving habit increasing efficiency.

I wont deny the seat of the pants feel, that's hard to quantify ( runs better, smoother, more pep). .

I've experienced a huge range in mpg, with no changes or additives , just due to my driving habits. The ranges I've seen are well within the changes being experienced here, IMHO.

So here's to wondering about the one study and the additive subconscious and if it's being experienced here.

5/8 of a tank left and I've usually travelled 600 miles or so. I usually get around 350 miles on the first 1/4 tank. Of course the only time the gauge will read empty is with the key off. Hopefully you have not developed the dreaded fuel sender syndrome. Make sure you keep an eye on the miles driven.

10 to12MPG whats wrong!

Hohn i read your message. I have been waiting for some one to tell me how to increase my milage. since new i have only been getting between 8-12 MPG. the truck only has 7,500 miles on it. my father inlaw has a Chevy / with the Durmax in it . he is getting 22- 26 MPG every one laughs when i tell them what i get. I am lucky to get 280-315 per tank full. it`s a 34 gal. tank. my truck is an 06 2500 4x4 with BF Goodrich 315 on it. 3. 73 Gears Auto. What else have you done to your truck. i am almost ready to trade this thing in. i cant find anyone who sells this product FP60 Fuel Power. Is it new on the market.

Are you correcting for the tire difference in your fuel milage calculations?

And if you want the best milage, dump the tires.

The extra rolling weight, frontal area, aggressive tread, extra hight, all take away from the fuel efficiency.

Your FIL probably has a stock truck, and I've never heard a DM get that high of fuel milage. must be keeping it at 55 and unloaded and truly babing to get anywhere near 20mpg.

I'm guessing your stock size was 245/75/16?

Thats ~ 30 in tire depending on brand, mine when measure were 28".

Most 315's are 35". . so 30/35 is a 15% change in tire size.

And a 15% error in your milage recorded. . on the low side...

You can check it by using a milemarker of GPS to find out how off you are.

I drove to Denver to go to the auto show on Friday. Drove 65 mph on the interstate and then my friend drove around downtown romping it and smoking people out. :-laf Drove back home at 65 mph then filled up again to catch a low price on fuel. Calucated 19. 7 mpg!

You need to put some weight on it and pull some hills, mine didn't get over 15 mpg until I towed.

RC,

You can just order it directly from the manufacture. I have used a quart so far and I like the stuff. Not sure if I get a MPG increase from it, but it seems to make the truck idle and run real "smooth".

They are working on a new product called FP3000. It is supposed to be more for ultra-low sulfer diesel fuel.

I only use FP60. I have not tried their LC20 oil additive and probably won't.

Have consistantly seen 16. 5-18. 5 mpg in the last 130k miles. Thats calculated, and using 7-10% correction per the GPS (depending on tire wear). Have NEVER seen better than 19, or worse than 16 unloaded. Thats with mostly city driving in traffic. We're talking stop & go 405fwy traffic almost every day. thats an honest 17. 5 mpg on #2 without additives (except sometimes mix in used motor oil).

Did lose maybe 1/2 mpg going to mud tires.

Im very sceptical when people claim 23-25 mpg's. Ive never seen it (even on the open road). Have to wonder how they are coming up with their numbers, or they driving with a tailwind, or downhill (both ways??)

New Bio Performance Product

A few weeks ago I was introduced to a bio product that changes the molecular structure of the diesel fuel. I thought, oh yah sure, sounds like a scam. But was told it would save me 25 - 50 cents per gallon. Well I liked the sounds of that. So I tried it.

Now on my 2nd tank. My highway MPG has gone from 15. 1 MPG to 19 MPG. City MPG went from 10. 3 to 13. 7. I am impressed. The cost of the product is about $1. 50 per fill.

As a bonus, I do not have any diesel exhaust smell. No wasted fuel pumped out of my tail pipe.

So far I am sold on it. I was told that I should reach my peak MPG after about 4 tanks full.

You can get more info on the web at www.getrdone.mybpbiz.com

Check it out is all I can say.

Hohn i read your responce to the FP60 is it still as good as you though.

I have an 06 auto 3. 73 rear gear with 10,000 miles. I am still getting 11-13 mpg. Even on the high way at 2000 rpm going 75 mph i have taken it to the dealer 3 times thay find nothing wrong. my buddy gets 16. 7 pulling his big boat & 22 mph reg. driving still under Worrenty i have to be carefull.

No doubt that driving habits play a large role.

Let me say that I have a Smarty (always on 9 these days) and Mach 4s. It's all but impossible to drive this setup like an oldster, as the power comes in really fast and makes you want to use it unnecessarily.

Unfortunately, I'm out of FP60 and haven't been able to reorder yet.

I'm also questioning of my fuel gauge inaccuracy (and lately, failure) isn't just coincidental with the use of the FP60. I say this because I've read a lot of guys having failures on the sending units, and they use no additive. I think the 02s had a bad run of certain parts (BJs, some VPs, tank senders, interior stuff) and mine may be just a case of part failure.

The other thing I was thinking about is that I have tried so many different additives that it's just pure fallacy to say that any particular one caused my sender failure. Doing so is spurious for sure.

Overall, I'm just very happy that I've been able to add about 180hp to my truck and get the same MPG I did when it was bone stock!! :D

My friend added a "power puck" to his 01 HO 6spd 4x4 dully. He drives it easy enough and while adding ~120hp, he's seen a huge increase in mpg when driving with a tender foot.

Before he added the power puck, my non HO auto, pulling a few thousand less lbs them him. . we got the same mpg while following each other through out up state NY.

After he added the power puck, and both of us using a tender foot towing through upstate again. . me with a TT @ 7klbs and him with a 5th wheel @ 10klbs, he gets about 30% better fuel efficiency then I do.

I can change my fuel efficiency by 50% with my foot , from being somewhat heavy footed to driving with a tender foot with using the gauges.

A power puck is simply a timing box and only adds 50hp, it simply adds 1. 5 * or so of advance to the injection event to get more power with the only downside being increased emmisions. The box that adds 120hp tappes the pump and adds additional fuel with the timming.

any fp60 users still out there? I am using Amalgamated TDR blend as I had to buy 10 gals when I bought it and have plenty. Just wondering where everyone stands on attatives these days.
