sorry guys for beating the deceased equine here but... .

when i do the conversion, do i need to replace the turn/corner lamps also? the headlight warehouse shows them included with the sport lamps. other plaves do not..... but the warehouse has the best price that i've seen so far.

Tim, the sport lights have a different lenze, I believe it's clear like the headlights, not fluted.

You could prolly run the std turn signal lenzes, but it would look better with the sport ones.

If you buy with the signals included, all ya gotta do is unplug from your std lights, and plug the bulb& wiring into the sports.

thanks eric, like i said ... beating a dead horse but i wanna make sure i've got all my ducks in a row before i do this deal... .

gonna go with the headlight warehouse and the harnesses from coolbulbs... ...

I hopefully will be doing the conversion to the sport light soon. Xavier got a bud that sells the combo kit for about $100 ea. Haven't seen them yet but he say's that they are the same as the headlight WH. I gotta ask. Do the American trucks have daytime running lights on your headlights? In Canada we do so I'll have to do some figuring on the wiring cause I want to have 4 high 4 low patched through with relays directly from the battery so there is "0" voltage drop cause a little voltage drop can make a large dif on the output?

Tardog, if I understand you correctly, one concern I have with your idea of 4 filaments lit on low beam is that the inner reflectors are shaped for high beam only and were not intended to be used for low beam. The low beam pattern from the inner lamps has not been tested that I'm aware of and could dazzle oncoming drivers. You know what that's like. One possibility might be to connect the inner low beam filaments to the daytime running light module.

When ordering the harnesses I would ask if instructions are included for connecting to 'switched ground' systems, where 12 volts is applied to the bulbs at all times and the headlight switch controls the ground connection for the bulbs. The newer trucks are wired this way back at least as far as 1999, unlike the earlier trucks, which are 'switched hot', with the headlight switch supplying 12 volts to the bulbs when turned on. I believe that others have run into difficulties because of this.

It often ain't as simple as it appears. ;)

I dunno about DRL's but I have mine wired so that all 4 are on in low, and high.

I havent had any problems. Lighting is FANTASTIC !!!

I'm not an electrician, but I dont think it would make a difference if it's a switched ground, or switched hot wire... . on the harness. Youre factory wiring just actuated a relay. The load is carried by the harness. Maybe I'm wrong??

I had to fiddle with the pins on my 9007 harness to get it right.

Pins on the 9004 bulb are different than the 9007. Looking at the female harness (coolbuls harness)recepticle, I switched the two pins on the right.

The only downside I've seen is when I have the high beams on and switch to the low beams, I have to momentarily push in my light switch to get the 9007's to "come off" high beam.

This may not even be related to the harness itself. It may be a sticky relay. I dunno.

I was unaware of the inner reflector being of HB shape. But I notice that they run 2 Dif Bulbs. Can a person use 2 the same (which is the 9004 I think) ads this would place the filiment at a dif position relitive to the reflector to get away from the blinding of others. That is something I don't want to do, as your are right I hate it myself.

Eric, Do you have 4 high and 4 low? if so has the brightness been an issue as Tom suggests awith the low beams? I have a '97 and I'm not sure on the switched feed. I'm in luck though,my nieghbour is an electronics guru for militarys subs and always likes a challange. :D

Tardog, youre 97 is a switched pos (+) I believe.

The inner reflector gives a pencil beam like light placement.

The outers are sort of like fog lights.

To be honest with you, I dont know why they didnt make all 4 on all the time straight from the factory.

I wouldnt switec the bulbs. Youll screw up the pattern.

Theyre very bright on low beam, and I occasionally get flashed, but I have mine adjusted a little higher than the factory had it. I'll have to lower the adjustment before I hook up to the TT.
