i am canadian, and i am very proud of that... my parents are both finnish and they moved to canada from finland in the 70's where they met here and got married. their parrents were all from finland, and before that [my great grand parents] i have absolutely no clue... .

oh yeah, sauna is good... going from hot sauna [+100°C] into nice cold lake water [±4°C] is fun i think... it's also great fun to see who can take the heat better in a sauna... we all walk out with blistered backs after something like that... :-laf:eek: ... oh and the hottest sauna i have been in was at +150°C and i was there for like 30 seconds [the temp gauge went to 150°C and was pegged] dry it was something you could stand, but just a little bit of water on the rocks and out you ran real quick [it was a wood fired one we stoked up with really dry birch & maple -we had the stack glowing orange]

 150°C = 302°F

The Creekmores came from England sometime after 1624 and settled in Norfolk county, Virginia. The first Creekmur (the spelling has changed over the years) appears on the Norfolk county census records in 1650, but was already established as a planter. From there, they gradually moved west, leaving Creekmores in Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas and finally Texas in the mid 1800's.

Mostly German... and slightly Manx. My mom's folks came over from Germany on the boat, so I have 1/2 family that fought for the alies, and 1/2 that fought for the Nazi's. . LOL . . if we could get the whole fam damily together, sounds like interresting dinner conversation!

We had a spy in germany on my Dad's side.

He said he was a Little nuts. I guess that explains some things the psyrinks couldnt. :-laf

Dad also has a wee bit of French and Polish in him.

I think his ancestry is/was in the france/germany border area. Borders have been moving back and forth for centurys.

He said the french family's name is/was Hohla (I think that is how it's spedlled?)

Story is, during one of the wars long ago, some people found a child in the hole of a tree, thus the Hohla name.

Polish is on his mom's side. Came over early 1900's.

Dad's side was well off at one time. They owned a leather company up north jersey.

I keep telling him "Where's all that leather money... . we was ripped off!"

He said "They spent it all on booze and women. " :D

My parents were Latvian and left because of the Russians taking over. I was born in Germany at a displaced persons camp. Came through Elis Island in '52. While serving in Vietnam my CO told me if I got killed it would be better if I was a US citizen, so I was flown to Hawaii for the ceremonies. Luckily, never had to use the ceremonies he was talking about.

I was born in the United States of America.

Mom's side: Her Dad's parents came from Italy and her Mom's parents were Welsh.

Dad's side: I don't know the complete ancestry but from his father's side I am the 15th ancestor of Myles Standish, the captain of the Mayflower.

Pete:

great to see another Latvian here... ... .

Mom was a DP Latvian during WW2 and met Dad (a GI of German descent from Jersey City NJ) and they were married in March of 1946.

Dad passed on in December 2001, Mom is 80 years old and planning her first ever trip back to Riga to see a sister she hasn't seen since 1939.

THE FORD GUY Oo. Oo. Oo.

Father 1/2 dutch 1/2 german, Mother mostly german touch of polish.

I carry a Dutch last name and a german first name. My wifes geniology pretty much covers all northern europe. Both sides of my family settled in North Dakota in the 1800,s to early 1900,s. All farmers and ranchers.

I have the typical extremely Stubborn German attitude.

Judging by the results of this thread the germans lost the war but saturated america with lots of people.

Proud to be an American.
