Yukon free spin kit with factory alloys?

I just completed installation on a ‘04 3500 SRW and found the Wheel studs too short for my factory alloy wheels.
Contacted Yukon and it looks like I’m on my own, (no surprise).
My question: has anyone else had this problem? Stock OEM wheel studs are 2.687 OAL and Yukon studs are 2.312 OAL.

Yes it does, I’ll have to be careful not to hit pedestrians walking on the sidewalks, LOL.
From the rotor surface, they stick out a total of 6” and they’ll stick out 3” past the hub caps.
 
My Dynatrax’s were like that. Only Issue I had with the lugs was when Ram changed to metric on the 2012 I use to own. Length was never a problem. Can you press the lugs out of your old bearing units and re use them?
 
I thought about that and pressed the OEM studs out and measured them. The problem is the Knurl OD where they press into the hubs, the OEM mics
.645 and the Yukon studs measure .666 I might have to machine centering sleeves for the OEM studs then TIG the OEM studs to the hubs.

That’s a good idea Ozy, I went to the Dorman site and didn’t find anything, the drag guys use all kinds of special studs. with as many of these
free spin hubs sold I can’t believe I’m the only one that ran into this debacle. Looking at some Spyntec photo’s those studs looked quite a bit longer.

Both dad's 06 and my previous 05 had the Yukon kits with the Yukon supplied lugs and stock alloy wheels. I don't recall them being that short but we used them without issue.
 
I work with a passionate mechanic who’s also FAA/ A&P. He’s the goto guy for ethical decisions like this.
His words are “1-3 thread stud protrusion”. So look into that nut well and see what you’ve got. This could be why Yukon hung up on you.
My Spyntecs protrude like that and for a reason. They use all D60 parts, including the outboard shaft, which is long, dictating that protrusion.
 
Yeah, I don’t understand whats going on here. I’m still searching for a stud that will work out but in the meantime really hesitant to drive my truck except around town.
Steel wheels being thinner in the bolt area would have probably worked but with my alloys being .770 thick, and with the Yukon supplied studs
this only left .500 of thread engagement.
I found Ford super duty studs that might work but I’ll have to ream the hubs from Yukons .666 to Fords .680. Thank’s for letting me know that yours worked out.

Wayne, I agree with your mechanic, the Yukon studs are 5 threads from the end of the lug and with an 18 pitch that’s short .275 not even counting any additional thread protrusion. I’m thinking the problem is that my factory Alloys are .770 thick. I ordered a single Dorman stud to try and if it works I’ll change them all out.

I hope you’ll disassemble the hubs and bring them to a press.
 
I used a U-joint C-clamp press for this job.
Worked like a charm.

Don't even think about it using the Lug nuts to pull it in.

With support like that I would call back or email them pics of your problem. If that gets nowhere: remove and return them. No reason to support a company that isn't solving major problems like this.

With support like that I would call back or email them pics of your problem. If that gets nowhere: remove and return them. No reason to support a company that isn't solving major problems like this.

I emailed and sent photos to Yukon Tech support and they claimed “never having any problems and to contact the vendor” This was BS because I found a photo of Yukon hubs on Offroad review that were just like mine. I just figured I’d have to correct the problem myself.
After researching over 300 Studs I came up with Two, One of which I decided was best which was a Ford super duty #610-541.
I removed Yukon studs from the hubs then re-machined the hubs to -.005 under the new stud knurl Diameter then pressed them into the hubs.

I think that's the studs that are in my Dynatrac Hubs from factory, very long.

And interesting, Yukon also copies now the Hub from Dyna, they are really not shy.
 
I’m not sure where Yukon gets their parts manufactured, from what I’ve experienced they seemed well engineered, were machined
well and within tolerances. This short stud experience has soured me and I’d never use them again but according to their tech department
I’m the only one ever to have this problem which I considered unsafe and wasn’t about to drive my truck with stud threads engaging little
over half the lug nut.

I’ll be honest... your pics look just like every Yukon kit I’ve seen, and I’ve never heard of a single stud issue.

I did have a couple issues with my Yukon kit, which they resolved quickly.

You certainly improved the studs, I’m just not sure it was necessary and that might explain Yukon’s stance.
