I think it's a CP4x that's designed for American fuel that has less lubricity than Europe's.

By now I heard it is a whole new pump more then a redesign.
Let's see what it finally is. I've I remember correctly even the tag CP4 is gone from it because of the very bad reputation it earned.

I sure hope so. I've been reading that a lot of manufacturers are looking at diesel again. Which is where we should be heading.

I have not read all 21 pages of this thread so what I type from here on may already have surfaced previously in this thread

I found a source that said the new engine is using a CP8 and then ran across the below though it is google ai generated

Bosch CP8 injection pump is considered a newer, improved version of the CP4 pump, with key differences likely including enhanced durability, potentially improved fuel efficiency, and potentially a design addressing known issues with the CP4, often seen as a more sensitive pump to fuel quality and contamination; essentially, the CP8 aims to offer better reliability based on the CP4 design foundation.

It's interesting DieselHub mentions this, only because from research, it appears as if it is an updated CP3 layout pump that generates higher pressures. Not a revised CP4 pump.

I'd trust my findings from DieselHub more than what AI would produce scouring websites.

As time goes on, someone will examine this and post pictures and information.

I got notified that the new dealer I'm doing business with has 2025 RAM 3500 Cummins on lot asking me if I'd be interested in test driving one. Only because a few months ago I was talking to one of the sales guys and he was game for me to test drive one. Told him I'm a TDR member and I left him some TDR swag to put out for customers.

I'll test drive one and give my thoughts. My inspection is up this month, and if it's a nice day out (no snow), I'll do a test drive while I'm waiting.

I'm going to wait before buying a new truck to see how these all pan out.

Really hoping RAM will do a new cab next year or by 2027. Hoping they can go more aluminum to lighten the truck up and make it less likely to rust in my climate.

I do like how Cummins/RAM appears to be forming a better relationship, and showing the customer affiliation (or love) for the Cummins in the Dodge/RAM trucks.

Same here , I'll never wear out my 2014 with 79K on it . It's a pretty well equipped Laramie . MY son has a 2022 , he ordered , It's a pretty well equipped Laramie . The only thing he has that I don't that I would like to have ,and that is adaptive cruise .

I do and don't like some of these features, such as adaptive cruise. Great when it works, costly when it doesn't.

I'm hoping that some of these radar systems become more "smart" and can self calibrate in the event of replacement, or even periodically to ensure they are working as intended without needing to bring it to a shop.

A friend has a new truck that has the lane assist. Great when it worked, but somehow it now detects the lane being too close and the dealer can't seem to figure it out, even after parts and calibration.

my son was operating a Kenworth T 680 for almost a year that had wonky adaptive cruise control and the thing would slam on the brakes every once in awhile, for no reason except it felt like it, so my son had to drive for weeks on end either using his foot or hoping the truck didn't do that crazy crap at the worst time..

friend of mine has a really new Chevy 3500 with lane assist adaptive cruise and he said it can't navigate a shadow from a tractor trailer, tending to pull you into tractor trailers with no warning.. I'll use my own head, thank you not.

I think if I was forced to drive something like that, I'd cover the seeing eyes with tape

Lane assist is great when it works. If the system in my F150 looses sight of the left side road stripe it will pull you into on coming traffic or the median. The adaptive cruise also is great until the car in front of you exits the highway and stops. My truck will think they are still in the lane I’m traveling in and slam on the brakes. Got to love modern Technology.

Even my 2012 Durango ACC has no problems with cars leaving the lane. So Ford must be way behind the tech then.
Same with guiding you into oncoming traffic, no go.

I could take or leave the lane assist , but as mentioned I do like adaptive cruise . Having driven my sons 2022 when he got it , lane assist when I drove it did not seem like anything I would have to have .

I intentionally didn't order the safety group when I ordered my '22. I don't like the steering feel of the trucks with lane assist and you can't get ACC without lane assist (from the factory).

its the same thing with any attempt at self driving vehicles.. and somewhat explains why it will never be 100% trustworthy as there is a never ending set of variables involved in driving... , and some of them can't be programmed for in development..

I got sick of looking for more modern smaller diesel tractors with all the DEF, high costs, etc. and started looking for a gas tractor. Apparently they're no longer made.
