I have a 1999 2500 quad 4x4 driftwood in color. Has anybody experienced rust from the inside bottom of driver door. This started from the inside of the door panel where the steel is rolled under. I also have a lot of rust under the truck. When I had the injector pump replaced the mechanic said the engine looked like it had been in a fire the engine is rusting and peeling. Also wanted to know if somebody has a contact name & number directly for a dodge rep. Have taken it to local dealer twice and they say manufacturer denies warranty claim. If somebody has had the same problem were you able to get dodge to fix the problem. The rust on the door is very bad and getting more noticeable.

Thanks

Mark

I have the same problem on both front doors. It seems surface and am going to treat it myself. I am not hoppy about it though!

Same here... . I had to repair it last year. I just sand blasted the bottom about 2 inches up & coated them with Lemon juice overnight... . then sealed, primered & painted the next day.

Had this problem on my '97 Gasser. Took it to the stealership and was told that the 10yr rust warranty only applies if it's a factory defect... this was considered normal wear and tear. P!ssed me off.

These were taken last year. They are REAL BAD NOW. And Dodge told me that they weren't replacing doors anymore. -Jason

I just noticed this same problem on mine yesterday. Washed the truck and saw yellow water dripping. opened the door and felt between the gasket and the bottom edge of door rusted on both sides.

Yes i live in the salt belt, But I wash my vehicles every week, I dont drive my truck when its crappy, and I put very few miles on it in the winter. We do drive out 96 grand caravan when it crappy, So I looked it over and there is no rust.

Im gona fix it myself this week.

had rust on a couple 20 year old rigs. Sand, scrape, polk what ever to remove what you can. Then coat with rust-mort over night. wash and dry. coat with DP40 primer. then paint and it will last. got stuff from auto paint store.

What is rust mort? Is it a sealer/ rust stopper? The reason that metal starts to rust is that it loses its acidity..... old timers use the lemon juice to put the acidity back into the metal..... works well.

Even though the later models have those nifty door seals on the bottom edge of the door, I still lift the seals and clean the door in that spot everytime I wash the truck. I am deathly afraid of rust there; it seems like that is always the first place these trucks develop the cancer...

RUSR MORT will turn rust black and stop it from working by changing the composition if rust. I dug out pockers of rust on floor boards before. let this stuff sit over night. clean coat with DP40 and never had rust years later. i really like this stuff. DP40 it is a two part epoxy. once it is on it's pretty bullet proff. it dose cost $ to get rust mort, epxy, paint, thinners, hardners. I would say $100 or more to get started with only a qt of paint. i did pretty good with a 1 inch brush. also i got a bottle with air tube that sprayed pretty good but with some of the pearl speck paint not sure. not the outside of the truck of course!!
