Why did I do it!? :{ It was a very impressive machine I have to say. Even a Regular Cab CC DRW rides better than my '98! The engine is very quiet, the exhaust makes almost no odor. I mean don't get me wrong, I like the aroma of a good old school diesel but it was impressive nonetheless. The Aisin is very refined and holds the tach around 1700-2000 shifting up through traffic under a good medium pedal. The exhaust brake is a jewel! Takes about 2-3 seconds to come in and then hauls you down. It kinda does sound like a Jake or C-brake but much quieter. A fine machine I must say.

Id have to agree I purchased mine about a week ago and have 1400 miles on it. There is no comparison to my 96 12 valve. This thing hauls my trailer like nothing and It stops better than my 96 with a brake controller, I havent installed one on my 07 yet but with the e-brake it is really nice. I love it,

I also can't believe how quiet they are, At the tail pipe I don't hear anything nor smell anything, I only feel a lot of hot air. But today I finally did it, I took the muffler off and I was shocked to find the muffler went straight through and with it off there was hardly a difference. It is still very quiet I guess because of the pdf. So much for a loud diesel I quess I better keep my 04. 5 for a long time.

Drove a 2500 today with the RFE. Wish I didn't do it.

Is the exhaust brake selectable at all? I mean can it be turned off when driving empty and adjusted how much it helps braking when hauling a load? I would think having this on when driving empty would hurt mpg. .

Yeah, the EB switch sits at the bottom center of the dash. Simple on/off. A real fine piece. Dodge ought to sell buckets of these truck just for the exhaust brake alone!
