My truck already has a 93 transmission but I'd like to go the next step to a lockup tc. Is there any ready made control devices for sale to control both overdrive and lockup when doing this retro fit? Any info is very appreciated.

why not use the trans from a 94 or 95 they are governor controlled for 1st thru 3rd and electric for 4th and lockup. the 96 is a full elec. trans. all you would need is a switch for lockup and could use your stock ecm to control 4th gear. i have heard of people wiring both 4th and lockup together and using the stock ecm to do both at the same time, i gues it would be ok if you dont tow or use a switch to lock out lockup till you get up to speed if you are towing.

yes, but ha said he already has a 93 trans in his truck something must be controlling it, even a toggle switch:D i thought he might of had the 93 pcm, thats what i get for thinking:confused:

Yes, ATS has a stand alone controller that will perform all the functions needed to control a 47RE in any vehicle. It has a controller that is tunable with a computer and needs 3 inputs; speed sensor signal, TPS sgnal, and 12 volts. You must use their VB with it as the shift functions are all controlled via solenoids and it is a custom piece. Spendy but if you want functional it is a great product. :)

FYI, watch the trans if you get a core. 1996 was th switch over year from RH to RE. Early trucks had the RH and later trucks had the RE. Don't trust the recyclers as most have no idea what it is, only that it fits a Dodge with a diesel.

Thanks for all the input, sorry about the delay of reply, was hooked up there for a few days. Cerberusiam, you are correct, I have no electronics. The overdrive is via a switch but would like to go with the loc up and o/d in one controller. I'll check ATS and any other solutions anyone can think of. Thanks Pete

PM JSTOKES. He will know for sure. He just had to do this when he did his suburban conversion. Something to do with pressure switches in the lines etc. .

I really dont know how he did it but it sounded pretty inexpensive and its fully automated. He has no dodge ecm etc...
