Last month i ordered the EMS off road Manual hub conversion. I ordered the 35 spline version. I had my freind Albie Breidenbaugh do the install. He works at Keene Dodge in Jarretsville, MD and does all my side work. He really knows his way around Mopars and Cummins.

The Passenger side rotor was extremely difficult to get off. We heated it up and it came right off after repeated blows with a hammer proved to be futile.

This hub puller had no problem getting the hubs off. I thought the hubs had been removed when i had new ball joints and ujoints replaced last month but we determined that Bob Mariano Dodge in Concord, NH has techs that can do this without taking the hubs off!

He just had to grind of the shoulders a bit

Just crank down on the nut and give the knuckle a few hits with a 2lb hammer. Repeat until it comes off.

out she comes

Trying to install the new axle proved slightly difficult. The new stub shaft wouldn't clear the inner diameter of the knuckle. . Note that he was able to reuse my one month old u-joints. That saved me some money.

Don't worry, he's wearing polycarbonate glasses or something

and it clears! We did go back and install the plate and seals on the shaft. Don't remember what the plate was called. wiper? slinger?

new spindle with bearing already installed

/webdata/photopost/data/591/medium/100_0031.jpg#ad

Spindle bolted on. I wish the bolts threaded into the spindle like the Dynatrac kit, but this is OK. We initally installed the bolts backwards, can't remember if this was the right way or not.

The hub installed. We did have to press in the inner and outer bearing races as well as the inner seal. Albie did that while i packed the bearings by hand. messy.

We found a hole saw that was almost 4. 5 inches. I had to use a file to open it up a little more.

This is me and my baby girl.

I have to give props to Albie. I forgot to bring the directions but that didn't slow him down. This was also a good time to do a brake job, since my pads were almost gone. Luckily Keene Dodge is right down the road and we were able to go down and get some pads and turn my rotors. He used copper based anti-seize on everything so the next time everything will just come right off. Hopefully.

As for the results, i guess i would say the wheel feels lighter if that makes any sense.

I had a problem with the NEW stub axels rubbing the inside of the Warn hub while the vehicle moved forward. It actually tried to engage the hub. Jee... ... . EMS has known about this issue and never did anything about it. The solution was simple but costly on time. I had to remove BOTH axels and stub axel assemblies and cut about 1/4 inch off of the stub axels. I also had a time with the supplied bolts. I ended up reusing the factory allen head bolts and bought some grade metric nuts to put on the hub side with loctite.
One of the BEST useages of these hubs for us 6spd stick guys is low range 2wd for parking trailers! I have to back my trailer up into my back yard and make a right 90deg turn toward my barn in limited room.

The only problem i have had is the hubs rattle when unlocked and my ujoints bind and squeak alot when the hubs are locked. havn't had the time to change them

Hot hubs

I just installed the Dynatrac hubs and the question in general is - after about 2000 miles on them the hubs are running hot. By hot I mean hot to the touch, not so hot that you have to remove your hand. Has anyone experienced this?
