I have a 30' 5er that has not been at my home for 7 months now and I went camping last weekend and left it streetside beside my home for 2 days before returning it to storage and one of my stuck up snotty neighbors called the police and complained about it being there to long, and on top of that I have parked my truck in front of my house in the exact same spot for 8 years and now I was told by the police officer that I can not park my truck there anymore unless I am at least 15 feet away from the fire hydrant. I have been 8 to 10 feet away from it for 8 years and I even asked my local police dept. about it a few years ago and they said I was o. k. parking there.

This happened a few years ago one of my neighbors called 5 times over a 6 month period about my little 10 foot work trailer that only comes home when I have a weekend side job and is only out front from about 6p. m. til 7a. m. the next morning and then goes back to storage, I took care of things that time with a 4x6 white sign with 4" letters and titled

"GOOD NEIGHBORS 101"

IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR NEIGHBOR, DO YOU

A: CALL THE POLICE

OR

B: TALK TO YOUR NEIGHBOR

THE CORRECT ANSWER IS "B"

HAVE A GREAT DAY

After I put this sign in my front yard for about 3-4 months no one would call any more although one neighbor asked at a 4th of July party what I would do if the calls did not stop, which I replied " I will paint my house purple with pink trim" they said you cant do that it will depreciate your house... No it wont I AM NOT SELLING. 3

I guess it is time to shop for purple paint this weekend although I dont think I will paint the whole house but since I am on a corner lot, I think I will paint the side of my house that everyone sees as they drive in and out of the neighborhood and then in big white letters spell out "IF YOU DID NOT LIKE MY TRAILER FOR A DAY OR TWO, HOW DO YOU LIKE THIS!

I know someone here will reply saying I am the problem and that people like me make the neighborhood look bad but I got you there too cause I have the nicest house in the neighborhood, if anything I should be complaining about everyone else. But I believe if people should get along and communicate with each other but it seems we are becoming a world of cell phones video games tv and dont talk to your neighbor type of people, just go to work come home pull in your garage and hide in your house and complain about others instead of working to better your own life.

Purple and pink, HA! Heh heh... That is great. My neighbor burns his fricken garbage every night which is irritating to say the least. Probably wouldn't bother me too much except I have to listen to wifey about it then... We can't even enjoy a nice evening with the windows down or we get the burning garbage smoke-out. His freakin fires are in one of those patio camp fire cages so it's pseudo-legal. But I don't call the cops on him even as big a PITA as he is. I enjoy simular gorilla neighbor tactics, like the hazing diesel running in the driveway close to their patio or a nice dandelion strip farm along the property line, that'll **** off a lawn head all day every day...

Yeah, I dont think its right to call the Police for petty things, I am sure they have more impotant things to do. Besides when I had my sign out a couple years ago I had 4 police officers from different depts whom live in my neighbor hood say that if everyone thought that way their jobs would be alot easier.

Heres a link to my last sign and some pics of what I did to my house

Daytripper... I had the exact same problem when I lived in the twin cities. I was even the first house built on the land and sold it off to be developed around me. I only knew one person who built there after me and he was a guy who owned a strip club I frequented before I got married and had kids. My neighbors did the exact same crap. They would call the cops if I washed a muddy truck in my driveway and complain it would wash in front of theirs and they would have to drag out hoses to wash it down further. Dumb SOB's didnt realize I was the guy who made it possible for them to build there! I even had the cops called once because I installed stacks on a Magnum 18 HP Cub Cadet and it was disturbing their dog... LOL People in the cities suck mostly! I love my 526 acres with 2 neighbors (one neighbor is 2 brothers who have bought both their CTD's from me) on a 12 mile stretch of road along a nice river full of chicks canoeing all summer!

You now I just realized out of my two nicest neighbors neither is from around here, one is from Oklahoma and I cant recall where the other is from, there are a few other nice ones but ...

well Im working on getting rid of the non CTD neighbor so soon enough there will be a vacant home! They get irritated when I fly by at 75 WFO with stacks. They spend most of their time in town gossiping about me and it always comes back to me so they need to go!

Funny, I tell people "Gossip is not a family value" Some of the wives are the worst when it comes to gossip and my wife and I teach my 9 yr old daughter how bad it is to gossip etc and my wife wants to move cause of the bull crap gossip some of the woman have spread around.

My wife is a very quiet simple person that is very content with things (unlike me) and the other women see that as a weakness and are ruthless, Ido believe in KARMA and it has come about a few times now

I had a similar problem with a neighbor when I move into my new home two years ago. I was in the process of moving in and parked my trailer beside my house after two days of unloading. The SOB call the cops and they left a note saying they were going to tow my trailer for illegal parking for more than two days.

What a nice way to welcome your new neighbor. I found out who called the cops and was on the look out for when I could give paybacks. I lucked out and she moved one year later. :) No payback. :{ I guess it was for the best.

F***in neighbors. I have very similar problems. The cops have not yet been called, but I am sure it will happen soon enough.

The biggest problem we have is the darn gossip. One of my neighbors knows someone that lives a couple streets down who happens to know my Father-in-law. The gossip that goes around is just crazy. Sometimes now we say stuff to the neighbors just to see how long it is before my father-in-law calls us to ask about it. When he calls we then tell him to send something back and we will see how long it takes.

I just bought a new Travel Trailer and brought it home. It is parked in the street in front of my house. I don't know what the laws are about it, but it has been there for about 3 weeks now. I don't plan on storing it here all the time, but we have been busy getting it all stocked up so we can take it out tomorrow. Normally it will be parked out at my father-in-laws place.

Anyways within 20 hours of bringing it home my FIL had gotten the call asking about the trailer in our neighborhood. Shortly after that one of the neighbors kids was asking how I was going to get it in the driveway. I simply said "I'm Not".

Long story short, this nice neighborhood we thought we moved into has turned out to be full of people that have absolutely nothing to do other then worrying about everyone else.

I say paint your house purple and write in big letters F U on the side.

I so can not wait until I can buy some property and get out of here.

The gossip is what pisses me off most and I KNOW its the neighbor starting it because they know everything I do down here cause they drive by constantly. After my wife died they started rumors I moved another woman in within a few weeks after her death ( a nanny to help me with my 2 yr old twins and 7 year old daughter), then I must be selling drugs to spend money like I do (I run hotshot trucking, own 5 Freightliners that are leased out and I sometimes drive them so I leave at odd hours of day and night and I run a diesel performance shop with numerous online sales and I buy and resell on Ebay and farm 1200 acres), the latest rumor they started is that I must be stealing Dodge trucks and stripping them for parts because I have so many around here ( I love wrenching and doing rebuilders and I have a file full of titles for each truck in case of question). Flat out neighbors suck and thats why I live where I do!

I try to get along with all mine, but there are only a couple that are decent.

I usually just keep to myself and try to be friendly when I have to.

It is amazing to me that people don't have anything better to do then gossip.

Hey daytripper63. Now that's some color!!!! Better check your deed or whatever before you do that - but after you are sure you won't be fined or penalized - have fun!!!

I did not know there were laws that make it illegal to park you trailer along the street/curb. I thought as long as it had a current plate it was 'street' legal???

I am sure glad I live out in the country where all that gossip and bs doesn't happen. Here in NM you can dump trash on your land as long as it is something like 150' from the road. Not that I do that stuff, but someone told me that a few years ago, I asked a county sheriff and told that it WAS true.

I am a good 1/2 mile from my south neighbor and another good 3/4 mile from my north neighbor. I know them, nice people, that's all I can say. I do not care about their personal business, they do not care about mine. I am the only one who cuts their grass and keeps the weeds under control for miles in any direction from my place but i don't have to worry about snakes as I walk around either.

We get lots and lots of people moving here from city areas, they cannot believe that ALL the roads are gravel and no sidewalks, give me a break, sidewalks out in the country. Anyway, many of them do not stay here very long because it IS a rural area with a rural cowboy/redneck mindset. Our small town has 1 gas station, 1 market, a post office, couple restauraunts, and a few small business-welding, leather work, junk store - that's about it. Sure beats all the crap you guys go through in town with neighbors who cannot let people live their own way.

By the way, I frew up in the San Fernando Valley in CA when it still was small towns and a few small ranches. I was back to visit in 1999 after around a 35 year absense, I could not live like that, so crowded, crime, etc. Don't know how people live there and have any sanity.

Just curious, what would you have said to you neighbor if they came over and told you they did not like the look of the trailer on the street and wanted it moved?

you want a 3rd neighbor:-laf

Make that 4... ... ... ... ... :-laf:-laf

I live in town, but no one has complained about me. My yard grows fast, and I'm gone quite a bit, so it gets pretty long at times. My dad does help me with that though. He's mowed my yard more than I have. Just bought him a line trimmer last year and a new Stihl chainsaw at Christmas for helping me out. :D

I've only ever talked to 2 of my neighbors. Only ever say Hi to one (he's rarely home when I am), and the other is a fellow trucker I run with sometimes.

Heres a little color sample for my paint project... Wouldn't you like to be my neighbor :-laf

I dont think I should write anything offensive...

I think the color says it all

:-laf:-laf That'll get the cops called for sure. :-laf:-laf:-laf

Where my grandparents used to live, they and the neighbors all played pranks on each other. All in fun though, with exception to one of them.

My grandparents put a swing set on one guys roof, while they were on vacation. The neighbors carried my grandarents VW bug sized car on their front step in return.

One of them was an a-hole, so they used fertilizer really heavy in the front yard. First few years the cuss word was burnt into the yard when it killed the grass, then when the grass started growing again, it was REALLY tall and green. :-laf:-laf

I would probably say Thank you for letting me know your concerns and how about if I try harder to not have my trailer here more than 1 day before a trip instead of two (so I can charge the batteries) and I will try harder to return my trailer back to storage the same day after a trip and thanks for not involving the police, I am sure they have more important things to tend too.

Heck, I would be glad if someone just left a note on my door if they prefer to be anonymous.

I dont have my camper at my house very often, the last time it was here was in October and know just last week when all this crap started again and I will bring it home this coming Thursday to load it and charge the batteries and head out on Friday and at that time the camper will be in Tahoe for six weeks, so if I had to guess I would say I bring my camper home maybe 8 times a year which would put the 5er at my house approx 16 days in a 365 day year, 98 percent of the time I return the 5er to storage the same day I return from a trip. ( and its not like its and old ugly 5er, it is only 4 years old)

P. S. Why did someone complain about my truck being to close to a fire hydrant? I have been parking approx 8 to 10 feet from it for the 8 years I have lived here and when I asked the police years ago they said no problem with the distance, ( the officer actually said a few feet and line of sight was ok) and now someone complains? I feel like someone is doing this out of spite for whatever their reason may be. heck, I cant even park in front of my own house now cause if I measure 15 feet to the back of my truck that puts the front of my truck halfway in front of my driveway.

As has already been pointed out, people these days just have no consideration for others, just this morning at church parents let thier kids make all kinds of noise and make no attempt to keep them quiet, and these kids are plenty old enough to be able to be told to be quiet and know what it means.

BTW, if any of my neighbors ever told me to move something in my yard or on the street solely based on the fact that they did not like the way it looked I would not hessitate to tell them where they could go. When I moved 6 years ago one of the criteria for the new house was no neighborhood covenants, like you cannot cut down trees or cannot have comercial vehicles or boats in your driveway.

Bertram65:

I did the same at my house in OR. NO covenants, no restrictions.

Not that I want to make my house look like an industrial area or a crack house, just reasonable to be able to park my vehicles in my drive way or along side my house. They are all street legal and insured.

Obviously some people have too much time on their hands and don't work hard enough. The just want to butt into others business. #@$%!
