Mopar Nats Towing Report

Class B and Class C RV

I used to get 5-6 mpg all the time, but my truck would only go 75 MPH. :D

My Brothers Pete on the other hand would really ROCK!! I was driving it for him one day when I realised I had another gear. I was doing 75 at the time. :-laf 100+ no problem.

When I was picking up someone at the airport, I had a "large car"behind me in the turnpike. I was going 85, and I was really holding him up. I pulled over and he flew by me. At times he was well over 100. I kept with him (@95-100) for a few minutes then stopped.

LOL

"My" KW will do 75 in direct. :)

Never driven it that fast, but at least on paper, it should top out at 90.

My cousin and I went to out KYDTR Christmas meeting in December last year. On our way up I-71 through KY we had a blue bobtail Peterbilt catch up to us. I was in my Dodge and my cousin was in his 92 F250 IDI on 37's... . we were doing good cruising around 75mph or so.

As soon as I could get over I did, and he BLEW on past up going up a grade!! I had to know what was in that thing so I called out to him on the CB... . turned out it was a tweaked Detroit. I always thought the Detroits weren't that strong, or couldn't be made to run. I was proven wrong twice over when on my way back home to TN that night I had another Pete blow my doors off just north of Bowling Green. Entirely different Pete, yet another tweaked Detroit although this boy was in quite a hurry..... I didn't feel like trying to keep up with him pushing 85 in a 70 zone. :-laf

If you averaged 5 mpg at the speed of 102, you would be paying about $53 per hour for fuel. I'm not sure that is very economical driving. LOL:eek:

Company generally pays for fuel, but 5mpg isn't that bad for a rig if he was loaded. I've seen 6. 5 in my 3500's when heavy loaded;)

I have no problem with truckers goin that fast, just wish something i was drivin would keep up with them lol. Been flat out at 105 and had a 5 or 6 truck train go around me in Oregon once, impressive!!!!!!!!!!

Going fast is fine. Trying to stop at that speed is.

The 4 wheelers in general act as if trucks defy the laws of physics when it comes to stopping. :{

18 wheelers are a completely different story than tandems and tri axle dumps.

I'm outright scared of them, and I was in trucking for quite a few years.

In my car (or PU) I just wont go near them. Same weight as the 18 wheelers... about 1/2 the brakes.

I was hauling *** back to Vegas from Florida one day doing about 80 with the Cruise locked on pulling a 24 ft enclosed... In the mirror, I see 2 fast movers in the left lane coming up real fast... Class 8's...

Anyway, they blow by me like I am standing still. They were 2 identical trucks, double crewed. After they got around, I pushed it up to 100 mph and just barely hung with them... Come to find out, it was Robbie Gordons race team coming back from Daytona on the way to Ontario CA...

They were really moving and didn't let up. Amazing what you can do when time is the ONLY consideration...
