At what point will the $$$ of Diesel Fuel really

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

Where will it stop for you?

wow LOW miles

At which point Ahmadinajad (sic) better give his heart to his god, cuz his behind (his oil and all the rest of his stuff) is gonna belong to the USMC, the USAF, the USN and the Army of one.

Hey, didn't you get the memo? We dumped "Army of One" a year ago.

We "requisitioned" Lance Armstrong's "LiveStrong" and turned it into "ArmyStrong. " Cool commercials, though.

Mabey I can trade the cummins for a hemi.

Just kidding. But if dodge would put a straight 6 gas or a small v8 gas with cast iorn block and heads in the 2500 and 3500 I may be interested in 8 or 10years when its time to trade:)

They put the small V8 in 2500s in the Middle East.

Gary really nailed it.....

My thoughts exactly... ... ... .

And of those still supporting the above at ANY consumer fuel price, I'd want to know their financial situation and where it comes from - it sure seems that only the relatively wealthy and/or those with close $$$ ties one way or another to the oil business would continue to cheer for where we are and where it seems we're headed...

Where is the, "You get what you Pay for", crowd now when we need them?, Hiding behind the Bushes?, pun NOT INTENDED. Friends help Friends, so get over it, (heard that at times) Money was made Round to go Round, ancient Chant. (pays the Bills anyway) My advice to the Government, "Print more Money and make us all Rich," just my Pious thoughts.

As much as the other comments in this thread, *I* would like to know at what $$$ point the big oil, futures trader, and "anything goes in Capitalism" guys would start crossing over to the dark side with the rest of us complainers.

Just as soon as they have to pay out of their own pocket! It does not hurt them when their bills are paid by the corp!!

As I stated earlier in the thread I for one could care less what the price of fuel costs. Being raised up very poor in the deep south caused me to realize that if a person wants anything they better go get it. This is America and a person can be anything they want to be. I worked offshore to go to LSU as a mechanical engineer and raised children at the same time. Since college (1979) I have been employed as a directional driller (drilling engineer), the last 15 years for Halliburton Energy Services. Wealthy? What qualifies a person as such? Let me answer that. Wealth is not measured in dollars or material possessions. It is measured by quality of life, personal liberty, and of course spirituality. So, I reckon by all standards I am wealthy and I do work for Big Oil. I am 51 years old and plan to work 10 more years. In that time I should make around $3 million not counting investments, 401k, or stock options. I got my slice of America and I hope you did too! Cheers, Ed B

I just sent out a letter to all my state senators asking to help lower fuel prices. Now if every citizen did that it may make an impact.

Incentives??

When I bought my first gen (Dec '92), I got a tax break for buying an alternative fuel vehicle. Diesel was sround . 25-. 30 a galon cheaper than regular gas (here in NC). Now I noticed at the pump (again in NC) I am paying . 06/gallon higher tax than the gassers do, AND around . 25-. 30 MORE per gallon.

That's a heck of a change in just a decade. I still get 20 in-town/25 highway in the old buggy, and use it for most of my road trips between Raleigh/Asheville, I just have a big problem trying to understand why the price difference swung so greatly AND why we seem to be getting punished for buying the type engine we were formerly encouraged (by the feds) to buy.

DUSTcaster

On being politically correct

Did you know they changed the name of the fire that started in Agua Dulce in Buckwheat Canyon from the "Buckwheat" fire to the "buckweed" fire because certain groups of people complained that it was racist???

what has the world come to when the natural dis-honesty of politicians is to be desireable to the plain truth? politically correct simply means that you should distort the truth or outright lie rather than say something that might hinder your chances at getting elected. peoples lives are at stake and all these people can do is quibble over the perception of using the actual name of the place where a fire started!!! I'm disgusted!

I'm guessin you must live in palmcaster or Lanscatter? right?

I've got two diesel pickups, a 1990 and a 1995 Dodge. I remember a couple years ago, when I bought the 1995. On the way home, the wife and I filled both trucks, since they were both around 1/4 of a tank. It cost me something like $80 to fill both of them.

Now it costs $70 to $80 to fill up the 1995.

I ride Harleys. I ride them a lot, too. I've got a 35 mile round trip commute every day, and I've ridden the two Harleys a combined mileage of over 20,000 miles this year.

I wouldn't go out and buy a Harley just to save gas, but I already ride, so I figure why not?

If you think the price of fuel is going to affect the economy, you're way behind. The damage is already under way, and it's going to get worse. How much worse? Think of 1979 to 1980, with slightly lower inflation.

If you're refinancing your house, grab a fixed mortgage rate NOW. When we bought ours 5 years ago, everyone thought we were nuts for grabbing a fixed rate loan and buying a slightly less expensive house than we could afford. With rates at a 40 year low, I said "I can always afford the payment!" So we did it. My mortgage on a 2300 square foot house is 1/3 less than a friends 1500 SF condo. Another friend bought a house the same size as mine, and his mortgage is now more than twice mine!

One reason the economy hasn't taken the beating it's going to get is the availability of credit. The credit crunch, which has just begun, is really going to drive the downturn over the next 2 or 3 years.

Personally, I'm waiting until next year to buy a new truck, if I get one.

Eddie

I have to agree with Eddie, we have just seen the tip of the iceburg. No one wants to change there lifestyle or driving habits. How many people's income has increased enough to account for the doubling of fuel and utility cost over the past couple of years?

Well, it has reached that point. The weekend before last the price of diesel was $3. 459 (I paid $3. 339 8 miles from home) and last weekend it was $3. 639 at the cheapest place 3 miles from home. The 2 closest stations are $3. 799.

I almost pulled the trigger on a new travel trailer but am not going to buy one with these fuel prices. Watch for the RV industry to suffer along with almost everything else.

How big do you think the Swiss bank accounts of King George and his sidekick Dick C. are?

With the new sky high fuel prices does this mean the states get more tax per gallon or is the tax a fixed amount per gallon ?

What about federal tax on fuel is it fixed per gallon ?

I think the RV industry is OVER!!!!!!!

"I almost pulled the trigger on a new travel trailer but am not going to buy one with these fuel prices. Watch for the RV industry to suffer along with almost everything else. "

And all the folks who make a living on RV Based travel will take a big hit... .

Most states (and the feds) have a fixed amount of tax, so they don't get any more $$$ with the high prices. I think NY has a % rate.

Id love to see rationing of fuel back in effect. I put 70 dollars in my truck every 2-3 weeks. If we ration fuel we will in fact take alot of the traffic off the road. Tow truck drivers will make a fortune when idiots that insist on not conserving their fuel run out. People killing each other at the pumps will also have a population control into effect. :-laf Which leaves more for those of us that do conserve. If a stop is not on the way to or from work I dont make it until im going to that area. I rarely make a special trip. I refuse to give the money hungry Arabs and Venezualan peeps more cash. Its already killing our economy that the prices are as high as the are. People are buying fuel mostly on credit. Homes are on credit. Food is bought on credit. I see guys come into my job and pay for stuff and have to try 4 or 5 credit cards to get one thats not maxed out. Everything is going up except for pay and the value of the american dollar. The entire Iraq war is almost being waged on credit. Oil and our horrible "elected" government has lead us straight into the way of life we are in now. Everyone sits back and complain about how bad they hate our politicians. Yet cant take 15 minutes on election day to go make their silent piece heard. I guess we Americans forgot what our Founding Fathers faught for. Now England laughs at us and says hey we really did win. The USA is failing in the long run. We wanted to get away from unfair taxes. Now the taxes we pay is going to support illegal immigrants and their anchor babies. Our social security isnt going to be there for most of us to retire on due to all the extra humanitarian BS and political bs thats attached with this. Illegal immigrants are using our fuel to make money in our country without drivers licenses, without paying income taxes, medicare, social security etc. , and we have politicians that want to give them a license that they have to have a special test and a special instructor to take it... . which cost more money to us taxpayers. I could go on and on about how it all comes down to we are screwed due to the average lazyness of the general american public. We pay more and complain more but wont even get out to the election polls to make our complaints count. If we would have invested in alternative energy instead of waging war on Iraq, we could have dropped our efficiency on foreign oil by 25 percent or better. The technology and principles for all these Hybrid or Hydrogen fuel cell cars has been out for years but no one invested into them in order to advance the technology in order to make it cheaper. If local ordinances would let me put a wind turbine up and cover my yard with solar panels I would completely unplug myself from the grid.

Why is china and india growing and taking more of the oil people ask,,,,, well we keep paying them to make our toys for our kids so they can be poisoned by lead. Someone thought that if we allow businesses make their products overseas that it would create economic growth,,,,, well now that the honest hard working american cant find a decent job for a decent wage without worrying about being laid off, we are in an economic slump. Entire cities are turning into complete slums and ghost towns due to factories closing up and going overseas. Look at Norfolk VA. If it werent for the military and the ship yards, which are closing slowly one by one as well, FORD would have turned that city into a ghost town when it shut the truck plant down. Baltimore MD when Chevrolet completely shut down its plant there, they put thousands of middle classed people out of work and into poverty. Baltimore has lost most of its manufacturing jobs. Where are they all going?#@$%! Well lets see they arent really putting any new plants up here. All you can get now at the stores thats USA product is the Copyrighted printed on the package in some foreign country that is leeching off our dwindeling economy.

Only we can change how our lifes are effected by oil. All of the above mentioned are connected through oil. I know it all looks like rambling, but think about it like this if we didnt give all these booming countries our american jobs they wouldnt be as large of consumers of the worlds oil. We AMERICAN citizens have given enough. I say we not nuke the oil producers, but cut the importing of unsafe products from our former enemies like china and put those pride giving jobs back in the hands of hard working USA citizens. Pull out of IRAQ, and invest in USA. While we are out freeing the world with our military, at home we are becoming more and more enslaved to the ways back before the revolution. Atleast 30 percent of every dollar we make goes to uncle sam before we can spend it. once we spend it the state takes another 4-8 percent. Fuel takes another percentage. By the time you look at how much you make, the government in one way shape or form takes over half your paycheck. Why would they care if prices on goods go up? It makes more tax dollars for them to vote themselves a raise with every year.

You are right about making change at the voting booth. It is the only tool we have. Only half of the voters vote. The other half needs to wake up. By not voting the crooks out we are giving our country to the Socialist. At 79 I have seen a lot of change. People seem to be more interested in sports than how we are loosing our country. If their team wins that is all that matters. What is happening in Washington DECEIT if far more important but not enough people care or believe there is a problem. The way people stuck together in and for a while after WWII is how they should be doing now. There seems to be a new mind set. If you don't like it ignore it. How long would a team last if half the players let the other half of the players win for them. You know how long. Half the voters depend on the other half. Half is not enough. Sitting around and making excuses does not support your country. Nobody gives a DAMN freedom is not free. Our freedom is bought and paid for by our Military Personnel. So that this country remains free as many as necessary come home in a Coffin. Those are the Heros, nobody else. Nobody seems grateful anymore. That is shameful and the punishment just might be loosing our country and then our freedom will be gone. We need to support and respect our Troops and vote the idiots in Washington out. We can take our country back, but will we???????
