Hello all I was wanting to know what the average price of getting two cars hauled from ky to fl about 900 miles. I have a 52 chevy 2door sdn and a metropolitan. I sold them to a gentleman in fl and he would like to get them delivered. I have an enclosed trailer that both cars fit into just wanting to know what to price the job at.

Thanks Nathan

Since I am sure you are not a "legal" commercial transporter your cost of doing this is going to be much less than the guys out here trying to make a living hauling cars. If I were to haul that load in an enclosed trailer 900 miles I would charge $1800, and that would be as long as I could get something going back, now thats being a insured commercial transporter.

If you haven't already transferred the titles they are still your vehicles and therefore (I'm assuming) insured on your policy, so I wouldn't get hung up on that. By the same token, if they are yours you can transport them anywhere you want to, even though you are not a commercial driver. If it were me I would negotiate the delivery price for whatever your conscience will allow. Ask him what it is worth to him and go from there. You could go as low as the price of your fuel and lodging (about $750) to whatever he is willing to pay on top of that.

Check out uship.com. It was $350 to have my car hauled 400 miles. They are usually insured and I think the site was started by ebay.

When I sold my Jaguar XK8 to a guy in Florida, the company I used charged $400 to haul it from 40 mi. north of K. C. , to Jacksonville. -Nicholas

My neighbor flat bedded a car to Miami Fl from central jersey for $1500.

That was about 2 years back. I'm sure it's more now.

He does this for a living, but I believe he said "the car is insured under the owners ins. "

His trailer will fit 2 cars, but he "dont even want to deal with two cars" because he said "people tend to think the second is free"... .

Sounds like he is running illegal if he needs the owner to insure. Legit carriers need a mininum of $100,000 of cargo insurance and $1,000,000 Commercial liability.
