Hello Everyone,

So the other night i fired up my 99 24v (125k) let her idle in the drive for a few minutes (it's 0 outside) then i headed out on the road...

about a mile up the road, my "wait to start" light came on for a half a second, i mean it was quick. i barley saw it.

in a few hundred yards, the light came back on and it stared to run rough and the light was flickering on and off. it stalled, i let it sit for a second, fired it up, it idled eraticly for a second and stalled. repeat 3 times... seemed like i could he the FASS running longer than usual after it stalled.

i let it sit for a few minutes and it started up i drove it about a mile, it stalled again and i coasted home...

i have a FASS (recent filters), and a fuel press gauge, it was a bit eratic, but still up around 15-17 PSI. but i don't know what is happening.

i thought it might be electrical but i'm not sure...

any help would be great. Cause i'm walking...

Thanks!:{

I would say first off get 5 gallons of diesel in it in case your fuel guage is hanging up. Also while at it I would pick up a bottle of Power Service 911 to eliminate a gel up if thats the case.

Hope it helps! Chris

Thanks Chris,

i know i have at least 3/4 of a tank and i have drivin it at much colder temps than that before, i had driven about 80 miles earlier that day... i have some 911 i will put it in, but my fuel pressure gauge was acting normal?

i appecaite the your advice! Bumming rides sux!

Thanks,

Bartman

there was mention once of the tilt steering column loosening ign. wires. seems like your truck is shutting off/ turning on while driving. something to check?

Update...

the diesel fuel shop that i use ( great guys! ) have checked it out, and deemed it is not fuel related.

So that leave us with electrical...

has anyone had this type of problem?? wait to start light flickering and eratic idle and stalling?? starts right back up, but acts eratic???

if they deem it to be electrical and in the colum or somthing, i am going to have to take it to the dealer... . uhhhggg... Not what i want to do..... $$$

any help would be great!!!!

Thank you all very much!!

a couple members have said the wires into the plug of the ECM have lossened over time and a gentle push and wiggle would tell you if that fixes anything. no $.

not sure exactly, but anytime I get gauges and electrical stuff going crazy I swing by the parts store and have the batteries and alternator tested. My experiences tell me that alternators going out can cause some weird electrical things to happen. It's worth a shot and it's free:)

The 10MM screw that holds the main harness bundle connection together under the Power Distribution Center under the hood drivers side backs off over time. It is torque limited screw so no need to freak out when you think you stripped it. Hint: Push the connection together while tightening the screw.
