I am looking for different locations other then the normal under the dash area for mounting my electronic brake control unit. I have, in other vehicles, mounted it in the normal location, but after many busted knees, am interested in a different location. My main concern is a location that not only looks nice (so I am not junking up the interior) but some place were it is practical. I am just wondering where other members are installing them.

I believe that under the dash is the most practical location for the brake controller, however if busted knees are an issue, then you could set the seat back more or mount it under the dash on the passenger side.

Some people have removed the ash tray and mounted it there to keep their knees from being busted. There are pics somewhere on the site of the installation.

We find that in bad weather we want to apply the trailer brakes without the truck brakes to keep the vehicles in line on some icy roads... . so we always put the controller where we can reach it...

I don't know which dash you have. It's more important to have the brake controller where you can reach during an emergency. Pic is of my Prodigy. Now running the Prodigy P3.

wcjp, I have a very similar dash as you, except mine is an automatic, and my 4X4 is on the floor. Thank you for posting a picture, they tend to do more of a justice then reading a post and imagining the location.

Maybe I should clarify my question to save a lot of members the trouble. I understand that the location is important for safety reasons, and moving the seat back wont work, since the seat is already back as far as it can go.

I am more then less looking for OPTIONS of where to install the controller for cosmetic reason's and operability.

Thank you in to any members trying to give assistance.

I had an 02 an mounted it under the ash tray so when I got my 07 I mounted it on the right side also. Now every time I downshift my knee hits it so don't do that. I've noticed most people mount them on the left side near the brake release lever.

My P3 is on top of the dash, between the pillar and the dash brow, always in sight, easyto use. The space there is perfect width.

I hardly tow, I maybe towed 5-6 times last year. So I really didn't want to have that thing on my nice clean dash... . I mounted in the glove box on the left side. I know in emergencies I really couldn't get to it that quick but I really only tow a car trailer or dump trailer. With the glove box open I can reach over and slide the slider.
