I really appreciate your responses. I am getting ready to spend quite a bit of my beer fund, and your input is appreciated. I have been away from this stuff for about four years.
Actually, I can only run it at 20 to 25 PSI on a relatively steep climb, because I have to back off to keep the EGT below 1300 (before turbo). On a real long steep grade, I have to gear down due to EGT, not loss of power power.
Would I run the screw on the boost elbow in or out to increase the boost, or will it even effect the boost? I am thinking in to increase boost.
I think I am OK with the spooling, but need more RPM when climbing. Cruising on the HWY, I have no problem. With a full acceleration, EGT climbs real quick.
On a flat HWY, with my Truck Camper loaded (total weight 10,400 lbs. ), cruise control set at 60 MPH and the outside temp at 50-degrees, I had the following:
US Gear trans in direct (3. 54); RPM 1500, boost 5-psi, and EGT 750.
US Gear trans in under (4. 10 about); RPM 1920, boost 8-psi, and EGT 700.
As a side note, I run this exact HWY (about 260-miles) every week, and have for four years. Sometimes I put a few extra miles on in a week, not often. I run the 3. 54 gears, usually at 70 MPH (sometimes at 75), fuel at the same station, have speedo GPS calibrated, and check the MPG each fill-up (same station). The MPG did not change . 5 MPG running at 60 MPH (130 miles), compared to 70 MPG (130 miles). I fill to the top (no bubbles) and calculate manually. I found that interesting.
Does everyone agree with WDimig on a guestimate on my HP?
