Now this takes some guts...........

Dark Knight (no spoilers yet - read with caution)

I'm surprised none of you southerners have mentioned slaw dogs. Maybe it's because they seem normal to you, and therefore wouldn't qualify for this thread. I went to college in eastern KY, and was introduced to them there. Actually pretty good...

Somebody mentioned fries dipped in mayo and ketchup earlier. Reminds me of Arctic Circle's sauce for fries. We would always make sure to hit Arctic Circle when in Idaho visiting Dad's family. Good stuff.

CJ Johanson i tried your favorite Oreos dipped in JD and all i can say is it tastes very, very wrong. I like Oreos and i love JD but i cant handle one in the other.

Well, what can I say? To each his own, I guess. I like Oreos, but they are really too sweet, the Jack cuts it nicely in my opinion. To me, the taste is something like bourbon balls, which are probably something not everyone likes either.

I see what your getting at i can usually only eat a couple at a time and thats enough sweets for me.

Two things you may never have eaten are “coffee toast” and “coffee soup. ” When I was a little kid back in the 1940s we made coffee toast by taking some really crisp toast, placing it in a saucer, pouring coffee over it, then dribbling canned milk or cream on it and sprinkling sugar on it. Coffee soup was just saltine crackers crumbled into a cup of coffee and laced with canned milk or cream and sugar. We also had “milk toast” at times. Just break up crisp buttered toast in a bowl, pour hot milk over it and sweeten it. I’ve heard some people talk about these kinds of things and make it seem like extreme depravation but I didn’t think it was hardship. In fact, a lot of these things were pretty tasty. You must bear in mind that there were not very many “convenience” foods at that time so we didn’t have such sophisticated taste for food as we have now.

I remember eating that with my grandfather when I was little. It was GOOD! Matter of fact, the wife and I were just talking about that the other nite.

I remember as a kid, coming home from school starving. I'd try to make the biggest sandwich possible with whatever. Three pieces of bread stacked with ham, cheese, pickles, mayo, ketchup, chip's, sugar, olives, lettuce, cereal, and whatever random thing I could squeeze onto it. I'd take 2 or 3 bite's and get sick! :-laf
