My former Dodge dealership mechanic friend and I looked my truck over tonight in preparation for installing a set of three DiPricol Optix gauges. The engine looks pretty intimidating. It seems it will be very difficult to access the exhaust manifold to install the pyro probe and there is only one bolt accessible for installation of the boost probe.

Has anyone already installed gauges on a 6. 7? If so I would appreciate your comments and advice.

Pyro Mount

My Pyro Probe is mounted in the same location however we choose a different method for the Boost Probe as it is in the outlet side of the intercooler.

Courierdog,

That's interesting. It would not have occurred to me to install the boost sensor

in the intercooler. Does it read the same boost there?

Bump for more pics and gauge options. I have all the analog gauges I'd need, but I'm thinking of going digital with this one.

Whatcha'all got???

My analog are leftover from my '01. They didn't exactly match the '04. 5 but they stayed. I hate wiring them. I had an Attitude in the '04. 5 and I was OK with reading it.

What's the best way to do a trans temp on the Aisin?

I think the analogs read better because they are a smooth sweep, the digital's have to refresh and some are as long as a second. It doesnt sound like much but I have both in my truck and the analog is WAY easier to read.

The Attitude probably has the fastest refresh rate for its readout making it easier to read.

I installed the edge w. attitude. I thought the guages would be harder to read than my previous analog ones. The new ones are awesome. Lightning quick readouts too, 2 times a second it will change on the pyrometer. It also shows me every time the engine goes into regen

To drill the manifold was very easy. I started the engine with the exhaust brake on, and used an angle drill to drill the manifold. I used a wratchet with extension wrench to tap it. Same location as the others pictured. All the filings just blew out with the engine running.

I have a question for everyone with a pyro installed, what are you showing for EGT's? I have the same set-up as "B-Rock" minus the fuel pressure. I installed the pyro in the same area on the header, I normally have approx 1200 upon start up then cools dwn to 1050 to 1100 normal operations, alot hotter than my old 01 5. 9 and I wanted see if this is normal for the 6. 7.

That doesn't sound normal from my experience. Start up temps on a cold engine are normally ambient temperature and will rise slowly to 300-400*. A hot engine will usually read around 300-400* on restart depending on shut down temp and ambient temp.

DiPricol Optix gauges will read that high if not properly connected/grounded but I don't have any experience with ISSPRO gauges. I'd check wiring and connections.

Yes, check wiring an connections, also make sure the amplifier boxes are not too close to each other or another device with significant amplifiers (CB radio or stereo amplifier).

What rating boost gauge are you guys running? 0-30,60,100? Any of you guys running a fuel pressure gauge? Again which rating 0-30,60,100? Is that a electric or mechnical fuel gauge?

I am using the Isspro 0-30 since the truck is stock utilizing the Geno's adapter, works great!! No FP gauge yet but it's just a matter of time.

0-60psi, i have hit 41-42 a few times.

i am not running a fuel pressure gauge. If i did it would be electric. i would not want a small line with diesel running in to the cab of my truck. if the gauge or line failed i would not want diesel in the cab of my truck.

I have the 2007. 5 with the 6. 7 engine.

I run and trust my installed G. P. S. and did not do any recal. on the spedo.

It generally runs 3 to 4 mph higher than the speed o meter. Also much more accurate

Heres what I'm running. I,ve now seen a full 1600* EGT during regens and max boost of 30 PSI driving it like I stole it on occasion. Curious to watch these same #'s towing the 40' 5er next week over Raton pass NM.
