Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) smarty/tst combo - quad adrenaline

Well I dont want to start a big war on this. I currently use my TST pm3 and smarty combo like others but I cannot use the upper levels of the smarty with timing due to the chop that I get and bad studder I use it on the fuel only settings and it is smoother. my question is if I sold my TST and got a adrenaline. would my smarty just be a 600 $ speed corrector/code reader. I know I could get a code reader and speed correctore for less than 600$. I cant complain about the tst/smarty combo I loved it and never really had problems with it untill I went to bigger injectors started to have a more severe stumble with the timing software. I know smarty has somewhat left the vp-44 crowd behind. if the adrenaline is the better for now box. thats were I will go. if adrenaline and smarty is a good combo I can do this as well. let me know what you all think on the next step on this. I tow a little mainly a daily driven truck . thanks.

Keep what you already have, I've always been told the Smarty/TST stack made the most power with the Smarty set on SW#3.

I used to run the TST comp/Smarty stack and now run the Adrenaline. I haven't had it on the dyno yet but th SOP meter sayes the Adrenaline is stronger. The Adrenaline wins hands down for smoothness. No shudder at all on the 1000 and 2000 tunes. The Comp, Dyno, and 4k tune are not as refined but Quad is working with them and the get better with each update. I Could not tell a noticeable improvement with the Adr/Smarty so i sold the Smarty.

Its hard to explain the way the Adr. fuels. Its smooth yet it fuels hard. It builds boost lightning fast. I tow with my truck weekly and it is the best box ive used while towing. Plus with the tunes w/defuel, it defuels and still makes power.

I will not go back to the TST\Smarty stack no matter what numbers i put down. It made my truck fun to drive again.

yeah Im not worried about my dyno numbers I know my truck is up there but Im more into the smoothness of the drive. I cannot use any sw program with timing it has become to choppy with shudder. hopefully more people that had the TST/smarty combo and now switched to whatever will chime in. or even get some word from Bob or Marco on the timing issue.

I can't wait till I get my Quad... just need to scrape the money together, but it's always something coming up... . today our one year two month old washing machine crapped out #@$%! GE sucks and so does Home Depot... . of course I didn't get the extended warranty! #@$%!#@$%!#@$%!

YUP - seems like Quad's new Adrenaline is becoming quite popular - sort of the beginning of a new era - a revolution in technology of sorts... :-laf:-laf

with adren/smarty stack is this still throwing the over fuel codes like the tst/smarty stack. daily I have to reset the codes. I just dont want to have the smarty if all it becomes is a speedo/code reader. where does the power come on diff with smarty/adrenaline compared to just adrenaline alone.

Don't get me wrong, it isn't a big gain stacking them. Adding Smarty improves bottom end in my truck, but makes more smoke & higher egts. It also feels like I lose a little top end with Smarty though, but I'm all about lowend torque. Adding Smarty also makes the pedal jumpy where quad alone is smooth to come in. A few guys claim a 15hp gain with the stack.

If you check the classified adds I have noticed people wanting to trade or sell Adrenaline's already. If it's the best box out there why is that.

You got that right. I would go in the back field & get a deer before mine would go. Then if that plan failed, I would sell my interior & sit on a bucket. The list goes on. I love the Adrenaline.

Sold my 2nd generation Smarty a couple of months ago - absolutely NO regrets, and the Quad Adrenaline would be my immediate next choice as the best bet for a 2nd generation truck if my Edge Comp takes a dive in the future. Might buy one anyway, if some uncommon "special buy" arrives on the scene.
