I am looking for a gift for a friend and was curious what everyone's experience is with chips and programmers has gotten them in the way of economy. I'm not trying to start an argument... more of a poll.

Thanks so much guys and gals!

I have been running my Edge Juice on level 4 with the low boost fueling turned off, and have been averageing mid 19's just running around. I have also learned to take off easy and not to be the fastest thing on the road. Randy

I have no experience with other units but with my smarty on SW1 I've been getting 19-20MPG.

I just started beta testing REVO software and possibily I'll do better?

My answer is long, but, my I bought a factory ecm that bumped my '99 up to 2000-up specs, then bought a diablosport powerpuck. I'm getting 18 around town with oversized tires and 20 on the freeway. With stock (doughnut) tires, the numbers bump up 2 m. p. g

What size are your different tires?

My 98. 5 4X4 auto w/3:54 is getting 19-20 mixed driving with Quad Adrenaline, 100hp jammers and hx40/Ht3b twins. I neither baby it, nor drive like its stolen. :)

I'm running Smarty fuel saver mode, 55 mph max, tires at 60 psi and getting 24. 3 average solo, and 16 mpg or better towing my 20 year old Terry Taurus 29 ft travel conventional trailer.

I wish I could survive a complete tank at 55MPH:D

I'm getting a solid 20MPG at 65 empty and 13MPG towing my tall 6K trailer at the same speed.

I really like my Edge Juice with Attitude. Good power, tons of gauges, but I don't think I picked up many mpg's. Also, that is very nice of you to be looking into this as a gift for a friend. Can I be your friend too? :)

most boxes will add timing and that is good for 1-2mpg.
XZT, Mileage max, EZ, COMP JUICE, ADREANALINE, POWERPUCK, SMARTY, etc all add timing and get you better mpg. The difference is in the peak power of the boxes and how it comes in, as well as gauges. Chips are adjustable on the fly and downloaders/programmers can be loaded then left at home.

prices range from $180-near $1000

I can't thank you guys enough for the responses! He's not exactly looking for all the bells and whistles... more ease of use and simple design. It's looking like bang for your buck; Smarty is the way to go for fuel mileage and simple design.

Thanks for the info Bob! I'll do summore research and give you a call!

Keep the responses coming!

I want to be clear that I'm not bashing the Smarty or any other box. However, if it's bang for the buck you're after, I think it's hard to beat the Juice with Attitude.

Hi all,

I running Quad's Max Mileage Module. I'll get 20 on the freeway and 16 combined. It did bump my mileage up about 1 to 1. 5 MPG. Wish it was more. No other mods and I drive like Grandma.

Good luck to you.

It'll be a tuff choice for sure! Anyone else have experience with the power puck? I don't know if he's gonna be ready to fiddle with all the electronics just yet... looking for more of a plug-it-in and forgettaboutit setup.

Smarty Maybe

Am driving a 2000 6-speed 3. 54 gears. Run 60 MPH, mostly interstate, 110 miles a day 5 days a week. Tires are at 70 psi, folded my mirrors in. Shift at 17-1800 RPM. My average mileage is 25. 6. Am considering a smarty. Trying to gain 30 MPG. Electric fans are in the plans also.

I can back the Smarty SW-1 or my old EZ I had back in the day. What does your friend plan to do with the truck? If you think he will keep adding things to build it up then go with an Edge Comp and don't tap the pump wire. I wouldn’t trade my Comp for anything.
