Guess I get to be the test-mule for this:-laf. Just installed a one piece drive shaft for an 08' Megacab on my 06' 4x4,auto,Megacab. Truck has a little over 92k on it and was about due for u-joints. Figured I'd eliminate one u-joint and the carrier bearing. Part# 52123220-AB list: $602, got it for: $430 plus shipping from MOPAR4LESS. Tools needed: ratchet, couple extensions, 15mm socket, cheater- pipe. Make sure to block your tires. Also remove {4 bolts} and leave off the bracket that holds the carrier bearing to the frame. Took it out on the highway, hit the speed limiter a couple of times { Smarty Jr. on level 2 :D }. Everything is fine! Gotta haul some calves to Dalhart or Clovis in the next couple of weeks. I will keep everyone posted on it.

Don't mean to hijack this thread but where are you from, sounds like you are in the same part of the country as me.

I don't mean to hijack this thread either, but mopar4less.com is now a parked domain. Their E-Bay page appears to still be working, if it's the same company that is.

Anyone know if/where I can get a one piece driveshaft for my truck?

Mopar4less is Advantage Dodge in Farmington, New Mexico. Their phone # is 1-800-748-2139. Make sure you ask for "Internet Parts" when you call them, that way you get the discount. Another one is Dodge Parts.com : 1-800-826-8951. They are a dealer in Washington state.

Just noticed that you have a 6-speed. It will be a different part than the one for the auto. For a 6-speed it is 52123162 AA WC.

Is that a Mopar/Dodge part #?

Yes it is, I got it off a thread on the D. T. R. where a member with a 6-speed had changed his out. Another thing, the parts guy will probably ask you for the last 9 digits of your VIN #. You can either go to a dealers lot or search their online inventory and find and find an 08' similar to yours and get a VIN # from there to give them.

I'm wondering if the 52123162 aa wc drive shaft for the six speed would fit a 2004. 5 long bed quad cab? If somebody with a 2008 mega cab six speed could measure the center to center length between the front and rear ujoints I would consider it as a great favor.

Thanks:

The member on the DTR {his handle is tinbanger} that posted that part # for the 6-speed, and did the mod has an 06' Quadcab,4x4,longbed,6-speed. I have tried post a link here to that thread but cant get it to work. Just get you a VIN # off an 08' similar to yours ie. QC,LB,4x4,6sp, and see what part# they give you. Also on the dealer computer when they bring up the part# for a one piece there is a note on there for the Tech that if the truck has a two piece not to replace it with a one piece due to possible interferance with the center bracket. Dont worry about that all you have to do is remove {4 bolts} and leave off the center bracket that holds the carrier bearing to the frame.

If you decide to come to Clovis, stop by and say hi, I have the Lextron animal health store around the corner from the sale barn.

Well I ordered the manual one piece drive shaft from dodgeparts.com in Washington. Hope it fits, I think the slider in the middle of the two piece is starting to bind. I leave for Nevada in the middle of February, nine weeks of hanging out in the sun, and then May Madness just before we come home and don't want any drive shaft issues.

"What part number did you order for the 04. 5 QC 6spd long bed?"
52123162AA WC, the person who took the order said that the WC wasn't on the part number so we will see. It should be here by Wednesday, I'll install it as soon as it gets here and let you know how it fits

I'm interested in this as well. When I first read this thread I wondered if the G56 is the same length as a NV5600. I suppose the output flange may be the same since it's on the transfer case. Tom, it looks like you have a '04. 5. Does it have a NV5600? If this works for you I'll be doing the same thing.

Just an update on mine. I've put about 6k on the truck since I installed it. About 1k of that towing and a few miles in 4wd in mud and snow at the ranch. Smarty Jr. on either level 1 or 2 the whole time. It's holding up fine!

Did you have any launch shudder when towing with the two piece shaft. If so did the one piece shaft cure it?

Thanks

Will

Not installed yet, should be showing up today or tomorrow. Did have launch shudder, cured it by installing air bags to elevate rear of truck when 5W hooked up. Right now, I'm getting a shudder when accelerating up to about 20MPH, with no load, that I think is the slide joint in the middle of the drive shaft binding up. I'm fed up with the two piece and just want to get simple again.
