I'm looking at getting the 5" budget exhaust from Power by Poole. Originally I was planning on installing a 51" Donaldson muffler as well but figured I'd see if there was any feedback on the muffler provided w/ this kit. Anyone know how the sound compares to the Donaldson? I don't want as loud as my stock straightpipe exhaust but would like a deep tone.

Thanks.

I've been watching the exhaust escapades for a while, waiting for mine to rot out (it's getting there). I have never heard of this system. More info please...

most budget 5" systems use a louvered muffler... some are louvered and baffled w/ a heimholtz resonator.

I have a cheap 5" system with the M090535 51" Donaldson. I love it! Definately not near as loud as stock straight pipe, but has a good sharp tone, and the 5" helps give it a little bass.

I actually prefer the sound of the generic 51" mufflers with the "soft plug" in them... all you hear is turbo. But the flow numbers on them just aren't there. Donaldson PN M090535 has great flow numbers.

I got mine online through Ryder Fleet, and it came in the Donaldson box w/ the correct part number. A lot of times if you just call up a truck supply or go to NAPA, they'll cross the part number and will just sell you any old muffler that has the same DIMENSIONS, but NOT the same internal construction!

Why? That system from PBP is a complete system with 4" dp...

Olee said that the kit did not include the downpipe.

By the way, after a little more searching, I've found kits as low as $340 INCLUDING the downpipe and free shipping.

Does anyone know the difference b/w the 03-04 and 04. 5-07 exhausts. Of the sites that I've seen, the 03-04 systems have a 4" downpipe going into a 5" system whereas the 04. 5-07 systems have a 5" downpipe AND system. Would the 04. 5 and up work on mine?

Any idea how that would work on my facotry 4" exhaust?

I currently have the M090544 Donaldson but it's flow numbers aren't near that and it has something loose inside and is rattling.

The 4. 5-07 system will only work if you change to the 4. 5-07 exhaust elbow with the 4" V-band flange. The 03-04 exhaust elbow has a 3. 5" V-band flange.

An exhast brake would be an easy fix for this.

Ohhhhhh... . For whatever reason I was thinking that the elbow and downpipe were the same thing. Things make quite a bit more sense now.

So now I actually need an elbow from a 04. 5+. Might as well get the he351cw that's attached to it while I'm at it... .
