put it in a vice and flex it, it will.

Are you sure... ? You would have to clamp the main plate beam at each end/mounting area with a pair of vises and then use a cheater pipe on the bearing stud and then attempt to flex it parallel with the main beam to simulate the side loading it is strengthening.

edit In looking at it again that test wouldn't work either cuz it would "twist" the protection point where on the truck the pressure is only side to side right at the protection point. To me the others look more weak, you wont bent the tube but the mounting tabs look to be the weak point.

I see your point when compared to the others though, but enough force to flex it in this way I think would have already broken or bent other components from an accident impact.

I have a stock '06 4x4 do you guys think adding one of these will make a noticeable amount of difference, I thought these mainly helped the 2nd gens anyone have one on 4x4 3rd gen??

im thinking of getting one just for the "help" to keep everything from flexing. i do plan on doing a 4 inch lift this summer so it should help that poor Mopar box from distroying its self.

Yes you will feel the difference, even on your stock truck.

BTW, I voted for the DEFIANT brace:cool:. I have had mine for over a year and I chose it because of it's design. The mounting brackets on the others have to cause a certain amount of flex due to their design:eek:.

I developed a small leak, but enough to drip, on the output seal. Bought a rebuild kit, but also bought the BD. Put the BD on first to see if it would hold the shaft to slow the leak. After two weeks the box is completely dry. I'm not claiming the BD is any better than the rest, just my observation and the road walk is gone. Steering is much tighter. Very impressed with the difference. For all of us that had a 2nd Gen, the 3rd Gen is such an improvement. I was amazed with the difference the STS made on the 3rd Gen. By the way, shop for the best price, $191 locally.

I've recently added a leveling kit and just the action of raising the front that 2" has caused me to notice more "wandering" especially in crosswinds - the thing acts like a sail.

OBTW - I also think the welded tube-based braces would flex less than the formed steel brace IMHO.

I'm having trouble finding a extra deep 1 1/4" socket for the replacement sector nut. Where did you guys find yours?

a big honking pipe wrench did the trick for me, I used it to get the old nut off and put the new one on, I recommend dropping the sway bar out of the way first it makes getting the old nut off and the new one on easier, I also saw no need to loosen the bolts that tighten against the rubber bushings, I installed the PSC version on my truck a couple days back, don't tighten everything down until you have the bearing part put in, I had to move the unit around to get the holes to line up for the bearing assembly, once all the bolts and nuts where started I began to torque everything down. it didn't make a huge difference on my truck just took out a slight about of slop and a very small amount of steering wander that really didn't bother me before, the truck is more pointable now.
