When there is something wrong with my truck i wish i could bring it to Cali so sag2 could work on it. I asked them if they had the vibration tool and there answer was we won't need it. 6 month later i wounder if they have one. I know they don't or they don't know how to use it. Im going to call them tomorrow and see if I can get the tech reps number to make sure he can bring the MTS 4100. Thanks sag2 hopefully this will fix it. Or im getting a laywer and then hopefully a new truck.

This may not be related to the subject being discussed. My 2007HD with 6. 7 and automatic will under load, shutter badly until about 20MPH. I am pulling a 35FT 5th wheel. Does not do this with no load. Dealer says this is normal with split shaft and no fix for this problem. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Well I still have never had the dodge rep come to look at my truck. I had my laywer file all the lemon law paper work the day they canceled my appointment. I have called several times and they claim that they still have no word on there new rep. I think its all a bunch of bs, but if dodge didn't claim chapter 11 the day before we filed the paper work life would have been much better by now.

My '06 did the same thing before I added Timbrens. I think all of them do it when pulling a heavy (possibly too heavy) trailer. Gen III Rams have longer rear leaf springs to provide a smoother ride but the springs flex too much. The kingpin weight of your trailer is excessive for the rear springs. They sag which puts stress on the center U joint in the driveshaft.

I've read of Furd owners complaining of the same thing . . . Furd rearends sag more under load than Dodge Rams.

The fix is to add air bags, Timbrens, or have a spring shop install an extra spring leaf to hold the kingpin weight a little better.

KEpperly,

I'm not there and haven't driven your truck but my guess would be tire balance problems. If I were you I would take the truck to the best and highest recommended tire store in your area and have the tires carefully inspected and balanced.

You've waited too long to get this problem addressed. With the current situation at Chrysler it will be very difficult to attain satisfaction and unless your state has a very heavy-handed lemon law weighted severely in favor of the consumer this could drag on for a year or more and maybe still provide no satisfaction.

You are unable to drive and enjoy your truck in the condition it is in and if you do continue driving it with the vibration you've described you are wearing out expensive parts if only bushings and shock absorbers.

I would even go as far as buying and installing a set of Michelin tires balanced by the best store in town.

Is it possible you could borrow and install a complete set of proven smooth balanced mounted tires and wheels for a one hour test drive to prove or eliminate wheels and tires as the cause? Maybe even your dealer would agree to make the test rather than deal with possible lemon law threats.

Thanks guys for your replies regarding my problem. The only one I would disagree with is my tongue weight is too much. When the trailer is hooked up the truck is level. I even put a level on it to check. My wgts are 5260 drive axle loaded and 2960 unloaded. I should be in limits with these wgts. Again thank you for your input. This is a great forum.

I have put new tires on the truck since the problem started with the same vibration problem. I have had them balanced at least 5 times by me, my friend, etd twice, and the dodge dealer. I will bet everthing I own it has nothing to do with the tires. if I jack the rear of the truck up with no tires on it you can feel the vibrations in the rear end. I will also never buy michelin tires as the all seem to check (as in cracks on the side wall) within the first year of them being on anything I own. My truck came with the Michelins on it. I also have a set of bfg rugged trails on stock 03 rims that don't change a thing on the truck. I bought them for test purpose and to return it with them instead of my new tires. The dealer no longer wants to deal with me as i have filed the lemon paper work. I was trying to work with the dealer on this but after 6 month of nothing coming out of it then they cancel my appointment to finally have someone that they clam can fix it i just gave up and called the laywer. I have since stopped caring and just use it as i would normally as it proceds to get worse im sure something will brake one day. This whole lemon law stuff takes a long time but it will be over before the dealer ever fixed the truck.

KEpperly,

Did anyone check the gears or for any play in the bearings in the diff when they pulled the axles? Three to four vibes then silence and repeating the cycle sounds like something in the carrier assembly since the u-joints have been eliminated as an issue. Rear wheel bearings and the T-case are possibilities, too. But with the twisted metal already found I'll place a case of "nectars-of-the-Gods" on the diff.
Bent wheel, bent axle... suspicious. Delivery driver miss the ramp backing off the truck; lot boy cutting corner and finding the ditch or curb during dealer prep, Superman out kicking tires on a Sunday afternoon? Spinning masses out of line can play havoc on the carrier bearings and gears.

The dealer claims that they checked the bearings and gears and all was ok. Im not sure if anything was ever hit on the truck when i wasn't around but nothing was ever scratched or dented. When at home parked in my driveway where my truck spends most of it life nothing but trees can hit it and i usually park in the back of all lots so people don't ding up my truck. But something in there could have happened and i would never know. The dealer owner told me that they would replace the whole rear end and all i goth where shafts

Thanks everyone for the help in trying to figure out my truck

Mine was in the shop 16+ times for the exhaust being plugged. I finally filed lemon, it took so long I gave up and bought the straight pipe and installed it... . no more problems ... a month later ,lemon law atty. callled and said go pick out a new truck. So I did ... . switched my exhaust over and been lovin it ever since. Lemon law took approx. 8 months.

Talked to the lawyer the other day and he said that they want to settle. So ill see where this gets me when i hear what they have to offer.

Still waiting. this is a very slow process. Just signed some papers for a white 3500 srw quad cab 8' bed slt with heated leather. chrysler has to send them the money and its mine will know very soon but as far as the old truck in a legal stand point its going back for a really big credit

Does anyone know what I have to do to lemon my truck?

My 2006 Ford Power Stroke was repurchased by Ford for a litany of problems (i. e. oil leaks, turbos, egr's etc etc etc). Not sure where you are located but the attorney's office I used was located in LA, Calif but did stuff nationwide. If you go down that road, PM me and I'll give you all the info. Honestly, it wasn't that painful. We filed suit based on lemon laws and the Magnussen Moss Warranty act. Got me out of Ford and into Dodge which was the best decision I ever made.

I also had problems with the Mitchelin's which is why I ordered the Dodge with the BFG's.

Thanks Craig, that post must have been from a little while back, I sold the 2008 some time ago. I found out that here in Canada trucks in the 1 ton and up range are exempt from the lemon law buy back, so I sold the truck and took a sizable hit.

Michelin Owns BFG But i've had both the tires and the Michelin's had alot more traction in snow and rain, but the rugged trail tires will last about 2 times longer the the michelins
