are the beds very different sizes so that a shell that fit on a 3rd gen wouldn't fit on my 2nd gen? both are longbed, for what it's worth.

I'll give you a standard white fiberglass Gen II 8' camper shell if you want it. It is a brand name, good quality, used a couple of years and removed when I bought a fiver.

thanks for the offer, harvey. if only i lived closer to you... i am in the san francisco bay area.
so the shell couldn't be tweaked a little to fit? i think the one i have on there now that i want to replace with a newer one is for a standard square bed as i need to push the end in an inch or two before i clamp it to fit our slightly tapered beds. i wonder why they wouldn't make them just square?

Wow Harvey, do you have a photo of it?

No, no photos. I haven't even seen it in several years. When I bought a used fiver in late summer or fall of 2003, I think it was, I removed it and left it at a friend's place in Lubbock. He has 2 1/2 acres of old car and truck junk and several large metal shop buildings.

Last time I knew it was still there. It was in perfect shape when removed. I can't think of the brand name but it is a popular and common brand. It was purchased new for my '01 Ram. It was white, had tinted slider side windows. The only drawback is I had (still have) a Transfer Flow 70 gallon auxillary tank that was mounted across the front of the bed and I had cut an opening in the front of the left side panel with a hole saw and installed a Transfer Flow aluminum trim bezel around the opening surround to fill the tank from outside. The bezel is still installed. Anyone curious can see the bezel on TF's website.

I think I paid $1000 or more for it new and listed it here on TDR classified when I removed it for $300 or $400. Got one or two email inquiries about it but no more interest and I forgot about it.

I'll give it to any TDR member who wants it if you pass through Lubbock to pick it up.

The reason I asked for a photo, I have a fiberglass topper (see photo in photo gallery under my name). The problem with it is that it weighs a ton! Takes four good men to lift it off and put it back on, I would like to downsize to something I can handle.

The quality fiberglass camper shells are heavy. I think it took four of us to set this one off also. The only way you're going to get lighter is to go to one of the flimsy aluminum skinned shells that don't quite fit the shape of the cab or bed.
